Recommend me a new lens...

I have a Nikon D70s and I'm in the market for a new lens. I'm currently using the standard 18-70mm one that came with the camera. What should I be looking for to improve my image quality and flexibility etc...?

A fixed focal length lens will give better quality you should also use a minimum of 80mm. I know it can be difficult to use a fixed focal length lens because of space so go for a small zoom 35mm-90mm or there abouts.
