I used to work in Leeds. It took me about 30 minutes to get to where the M1 ended than another 45 minutes to get to the part of the city where I was working. When phase 1 of the project was nearing an end, I wrote a recommendation that phase 2 should not go ahead, really to get out of working in Leeds any more.

Leeds is a bit of a backwater, but Leeds is much better than most cities in the UK.

I don't *really* think Leeds is shitty.

It's far worse than that.

Leeds, the commercial and cultural capital of the North, is a large and prosperous city, centrally situated in the North of England. Leeds has long been known for its extensive manufacturing base, which is still going strong.

For centuries Leeds has offered people the opportunity to find work within the city, and today it has a population of over 700,000 and is home to people of 75 nationalities. Leeds can rightly claim to be a cosmopolitan city, where international visitors will find a great atmosphere, lots to see and do and a warm Yorkshire welcome.

Fuck me. I gotta book a flight. I have been to Leeds and never knew what I missed. Shit I must have blinked to have missed all of this.

I hear its home to England's finest copy writers and all.

Anywhere outside the North Circular doesn't really count as London - it's just a sprawl of ugly suburbs and superstores, just like most of England seems to have become.

I like any place, large or small, so long as it has some character of its own. Wander around the average British town and it looks just like any other. Only a few stand out as different.

and the last time you lived in Leeds? I have been visitin gthe place all my life and have lived there, its no the greatest place on earth though is going forward unlike greater london that is going backwards.

I grew up round there, it is some 10 years since I have gone and Waltham Cross out to about Turnford reminds me of how Edmonton Green was when I was groing up round WX.

lol leeds has a ton of shitholes, far more than bradford does, bradford is far more green than leeds and looks a lot more pleasant stone buildings have so much more appeal than redbrick hell that leeds is. Still leeds has an amazing city centre and some lovely areas out of the inner city like where you live.

The thread was (editing on this board sucks, so fuck the missing letters)a jokeof the surrounding shitholes. 10yearssince you lived here, but you talk about how it is? OK how's this - I worked in Leeds for a day once, it was fucking shit. The people were all cunts, and the food was even worse. On top of all that, every cunt put a 'T' in front of everything. T'bus, T'train, T'pub, T'Coronation Street, T'this board deletes wos if you go back in to edit the post you haven't 'posted' yet, T'editing.

Christ. Off topic, JT - I thought DVt was dyslexic, but I reckon it's the board format. Make a post and go back to add/delete a letter and you come out worse than John Davidson :(

Back on....Smiths Media, I sorta started this as a humourous thing 'getting back' at DVT (DVT, honest mate, was just a leg-pull), but now, oh hang on... ah that's it, now I can't be bothered. You're like an ex-pat living in Spain who says England is a load of wank, after 30 years in exile. Everyone in Cheshunt said you were a bloke full of shit, I 'spose they were right.

That's OK. :cheers2:

Since Newcastle stole NE postcodes from North East London, it's officially included.

The town was full of shit thats what I got away from it, you don't see the changes if you sit in the same place for any amount of time, I see it, I see the parks I used to use run down and looking like they have been forgotten.

Pubs, shops and other small retail outlets closed and replaced with fast food or employment agency offices. I think last time I was there I done my back in driving over all the bumps they have put in the road around the pond.

Its changed, the people have changed the place has changed, I do not think it has improved - most of the people in cheshunt spent a life time calling me a pakki or a rag head so full of shit is a step up.

Guess my back was up a bit, Cheshunt has turned into a fucking shithole. The Cross is unbelievable now, full of the dregs, Turnford is still ok thankfully, though it won't be long before it catches up (or down, depending on your perspective.
