So the cricket will be on? I wonder if he knows if Lee will be playing or not?

i wish he predicted the cricket would be disallowed. it spoilt many a nice rainy TV afternoon.

People watching cricket would hardly notice America getting blown away, let alone Florida -
I am worried about the cricket because there is a possibility the sheep shaggers will have a full bowling line up.
Lancashire's test wicket generally favours the batsmen, but I think this time the Aussies have a big point to prove.

Another great day's cricket !! :)
Shame about loosing the nightwatchman with the last ball of the day, but it sure makes for a potentially storming Friday ! :gold:

Yeah, that was a shame, but McGrath seemed to be hobbling a bit at the end. Hopefully it'll be 500+ tomorrow!

I think it needs to be 500+ on such a fast wicket if we want to win

Well let's hope Flintoff and Bell put together a decent partnership. I'd hate to get up to find they were all out by lunch (now you can tell what time I get up!)

Never understood why captains elect to put in a nightwatchman for the final few overs - If a rabit manages to stay the course till the next session, (which more often than not he doesn't), it means a better quality batsman has been demoted down the order and, if he hits form, will run out of partners that much sooner.
If a higher order batsman can't concentrate enough to defend the final few balls of a session, then he shouldn't be there in the first place!
I think it was Gower who put in one nightwatchman after another some years back - Wasteful.

Here is an interesting essay (http://www.thirdslip.com/2005/feb/tst-nightwatch.shtm) on the nightwatchman phenomenon

Its the pressure of the last few balls. Plus sitting around all day makes a batsman tired. Tommorow they can start with a fresh day, a little more moisture in the ground and after a good nights sleep.

Made even more sence yesterday to protect bell, so he can then partner Freddy etc tommorow

It's all to do with playing themselves in. A disproportionate number of wickets fall at the start of sessions. Putting a night watchman in takes away the risk of losing a decent batsmen while they're playing themselves in. If a batsman has to go out 30 minutes before the end of the day they effectivly have to play themselves in twice in an hours worth of play.

Looks like Bell needs more than just protection...
