View Full Version : Property Prices
I was down in London last week and while waiting for the pubs to open, I flicked through a property magazine.
I noticed in the small ads a 3 bed house for sale for only £20,000
It did say in the small print a Chinese gay couple who had both contracted cancer lived next door, but as I am not homophobic, racist or suffer from Carcinophobia, these things didn't worry me.
It's just the price. It seems so cheap.

Its problably a misprint.
Even if the house had fallen down, and needed to be re-built it would cost more than that, for just the land.
I bet if you phone it will be at least £200K

I did ring the number and the person who answered confirmed it was £20,000
they also told me there was no garage which I thought was a bit of a pain.

Maybe Dvtimes Lives Next Door?
:takethat:
A house in London for £20k or even £200k :takethat:
I live just south of London in Sussex and two years ago I sold a very small two bedroom house for £185k and Sussex is half the price of London
That may be a lease for sale and a fucking short lease at that. Whatever it is, there isn't a house for sale in London for 20k
Is it the property for sale or the lease? If it's just got a few years to run it could explain the price. In London you couldn't get a broom cupboard for £20,000

You couldntb get a broom
Where in London is my question.. :)
I'd love to know as I live in the middle of town..

I have a flat which is on rent due to sale falling through. I got my hands on it about 3 years ago now and went through a sales process right at the back end of the last boom, what the bank and the agent said were two different prices.
When the property is sold this time round I will approach the bank in the first instance so I can understand how cash they will lend against the property. I think the agents over estimated peoples budgets and the level of finance they can raise.
That kind of mess's up any deal when the budget is too small.
Oh your all too level headed before your liquid lunches....
Someone was supposed to say "Where is it?"
And the answer would have been CHINA!!!!

OK, I'll get my coat

I doubt you can get a house anywhere for 20k. Even up here I've seen a 70% increase in just 3 years.
