vent frustration: what do you HATE about being an adult webmaster?

For me it is as a noob - to get somewhere decent you have to be on your computer about 12 hours a day just doing the same grunt work. seeing as im not a real nerd, this is quite hard on me.

the uk laws which seem to be as grey as possible.

and idiot tools who set up hardlinks with you and delete them a month later. - 14 websites had done that to me last time I checked.


however i like the money and for example the traffic numbers, as me in my tiny little room is getting my website out to thousands of people, i dont know why but that exhilrates me.
e.g.
how someone in australia is logging on their pc thousands of miles away and checking out a website that I put togther :)

Totally agree.. its only happened once but I had a shoot booked in a friends place with Natalie & I with a guy waiting for a nother female to turn up for a shoot in a jacuzzi.
Her boyfriend had arranged it.. probably wanking off while chatting.. inother words bollocks.. Then she didnt turn up.. the same female hasnt turned up for a few shoots with other larger directors also.

I ended up getting another fella in and we did another guy guy girl shoot..
worked out ok!

there are neat scripts to sort that problem, like Links Organizer (http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=pmebg).

i'd hate to check up on link swaps manually, have a hard enough time recalling if all the links between own sites are in place.

The inconsistancy of your income, if you are really raking it in then it is not such a problem but you could put hours of work in one week and get very little return and the following week sign-up or sale after sale. I have also spent too many years concentrating solely on search engine traffic so again, not being in control of traffic flow or it being inconsistant.

FFS. I guess you could say Simonscans is a vertically integrated business. We do everything from top to bottom. Even if we didn't shoot the stuff ourselves, fat brits would still be an issue. I like brit girls, I'd stil try to buy brit content even if I wasn't shooting it, but its bloody hard to do as the pool of models is still the same wether I shot it or not.

I've seen UK themed sites and looked closely at some of the content they use. - Probably out of desparation cause they can't get anything else - Euro plug sockets in the backgrounds, books in russian on the shelves, totally non-UK style architecture and interiors in the shots. Too me thats laughable. If keeping the content on niche isn't a webmasters job what is?

Yes models today can be a bit of a strain compared to a few years ago. I have theory about it though. Too much work available and too many crap shooters who will put up with shit from models.

In the old days if a model turned up late she got told to go away, she was earning less because I was not working to her schedule or if really late, F*#k Off. This was the same with most of the shooters Girls knew this and did not turn up late unless they had a very good excuse.

Then the attitude towards work and passion for the job. I was explaining to a model how she should work and project herself to the camera. She was very bad at modelling and had the sensuality of a dead trout. No a dead trout could be sexier.

She told me no one had ever told her she was doing it wrong, complained and thought I was telling her BS. After showing her,her pictures she could see what I was talking about. she picked it up and started to model and listen.

Respect is never given freely, it's earned the hard way. If people let models get away with crap, models will give crap.

I have to agree with you and also say that if photographers treat models like 'meat' or crap then they are going to act like it. They can't tell any photographer they haven't worked with from the ones they've worked with before who treat her like shit.

As you say, respect needs to be on both levels.
