Ok just installed 2.1 on my new blog but damn me, it's fucking slow!
I thought maybe it's just the new site thats being slow...Well nop.
Went and upgraded one of my other blogs to 2.1 and it's now mega slow too...Just me or is everyone else having this problem too?

Is it FE and DoA? I just checked them and they look OK to me.
Is it the admin and posting that is slow or do you think the main page load is slow?

I have it on 2 blogs now and not noticed that particular problem.

I've not found it slow - but I've just run into a big hurdle. They have decided to have a Manage Blogroll think instead of links Admin, now I can't find any way to edit link categories (ie turn pics on or off for categories, have links in random order etc) Anyone found a way of doing this?! Apparently it's been removed by design and not an oversight - fucking cheek!

I updated my blogs with the delete button. lol

Apparently most of the 10 million templates people wrote for wordpress aren't compatible with 2.1 - wordpress are telling everyone they need to rewrite their templates line by line, as they've changed the code, so things screw up with most templates.
2.1's code is the equivalent of a fucking condom that's been used as a pincushion

That would make me the clever one for not updating :)

This is the reason I NEVER update them when it comes to the version changes but someone convinced me, cant remember who it was, that this was for security and cause I'd been hacked before I thought I should change... lol...Never ever again.
My three new blogs today all got 2.0.4 installed!

That was one of the hurdles I cam across too. Try this as an alternative.

I had to change all mine around to this but I haven't played with all the attributes yet. You may have to mod your CSS afterwards as well.

Until you get your server hacked :Penis
Your templates should be OK anyway I think because most of the XL ones I looked at don't use the wp tags and that anyway.

...someone convinced me...
That might have been me:) I still think it is good to keep it up to date for the security fixes alone.

I'll give that a try. But it defeats the whole object of a personal publishing system where point and click functionality is removed and you have to start editing code and playing with CSS - how many bloggers want to do that in the real world? I expect most of them just want to carry on posting... :(
Imagine if Bill took out half the options in Microsoft Word and said you had to go to the command prompt to change these options... 95% of users would be stuck...

I know what you are getting at, it kind of hacked me off too.
This is a bit like W3C depracating different bits of code between versions. Hopefully this is a one off change to a template that is no longer compatible.
The point and click functionality is still there, just a different route to get to it.

I tried the other blogs but just couldn't get to grips with them - wordpress is simple to use and that's why I use it :)

Off the top of my head. Can't vouch for them though.
TextPattern (http://www.textpattern.com)
BBlog (http://www.bblog.com)
Serendipty (http://www.s9y.org)

I'm going to start using Blogger again. There are none of the security issues associated with WP, while by default Blogger provides an off site backup and, although it takes longer, Blogger blogs do generate SE traffic.

I get a lot of se traffic through my wordpress blogs and very quickly...Or is it because I'm specia :D:D

Nope. My WP blogs get plenty of traffic, although it ain't worth much.

Oh poo - MOST of my traffic is SE based, I'd say around 80% and it does very wel...Maybe because the most popular term I get folk coming for is "faithexposed or faith exposed" already looking for her and sign up...
Must admit the SE traffic for ashley is shite, and touch my tit, hopefully heidi's will start coming in soon ;)
