In a recent thread I mentioned smoking banana skins in the 1970s in an attempt to get high. Well, it turns out that I, my mates and Kinky John were all fooled. Damn.

Yeah, I remember this doing the rounds when I was at school in the late 60's. We dried out some banana skins but didn't have the necessary equipment to smoke them like baccy papers or a pipe. Setting light to the dried and crushed banana skins rolled in a sheet of toilet paper simply resulted in a lot of smoke and none of the buzz we'd been lead to believe would occur.

Kids these days can get their hands on proper drugs, lucky sods.

Yes, there are lots of ethnobotanicals that do work, and you can buy em legally in most countries. Just google "ethnobotanicals" or go to your nearest hippy type head shop.

Only one I ever tried was Salvia. It was so scarey I couldn't believe it, and tried it again a week later. It was just as scarey second time, so I threw the rest of it in the bin.

Never again.

Here in Camden Town, you can buy just about anything that's legal. Sadly, the government made most mushrooms into class A last year, for no apparent reason except that some Sunday papers ran a shock-horror-expose on the trade. But some mushrooms, cacti, Salvia, etc. are still available. I've heard Salvia's strong shit, but the trip doesn't last too long, right? I've yet to try it and I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to hallucinogens.

The good news is that the myth about nutmeg being hallucinogenic apparently isn't a myth at all. The bad news is it sounds like a really bad trip.

Salvia is bad news, it totally screws up your mind.

Good news is tho, it only lasts about 2 minutes.

I had a boss some years ago who went off his head - anxiety and paranoia mainly - but after his doctor stopped him having curry a couple of times a week he returned to normal. Apparently the doctor was aware of the effects of nutmeg, which is often used in currys, so I can believe what they say about it.

Anyone really interested in nutmeg can read a range of experiences ( 190 of them ) here.

Some are good, some bad.

I remember reading about smoking banana skins on a disk I picked up whilst at school. It was called Jolly Rogers Cook Book, had some interesting scams and schemes in that. The one that stuck in my mind was the tennis ball bomb stuffed with match heads.
