Wordpress 2.1 came out 59 minutes ago.. it has Autosave which would have been very handy about an hour ago when I clicked the wrong thing and lost a post.

Yeah just saw that!

If you decide not to upgrade though, here's an autosave plug-in I have been using. :gaylords:

I'm always bothered about updating mine, do you loose the plugins you have isntalled or do they auto adapt?

Sometimes the plug-ins haven't been updated for the newer version. Check the plug-in site to see what they say.

Sometimes the plug-ins are now built in to the new Wordpress version :)

Should be just a matter of going to your plug-ins page, clicking on each of the links to go to the respective home pages and taking a look to see what they say.

Not all will have updated their page right away so I guess you then have to decide if it is a plug-in you can do without if it goes tits-up.

I am sure WP used to give a list of compatable ones for each version but I can't find it at the moment.

Tbh I dont wanna NOT use any of my plugins, if you find that list send it my way lol otherwise I'm keep my blogs as is. Till I get round to going through them all.

My laptop is running rather slow, once I get what I need done tonight on it complete I'm going to give it a reformat...

:bump:

It's a nice upgrade, looking forward to using it, but Wordpress is becoming a triumph of form over content.

Last week: 12 hours updating wordpress to 2.07, 2 hours on posting

This week - just finished upgrading all blogs to 2.07, now time to start again upgrading them to 2.1.

In fact I never get them all, as the next update usually comes out before I've finished, so I start upgrading the more major blogs, and before I've finished, off we go again, so I still have some on 2.05 I think.

Smoothballs, all you need to do is not overwrite your content folder (if you've made changes to the template server side using the wordpress editor, download the thing via ftp so you have a local copy). Managed correctly, there is no need for a wordpress upgrade to affect a single customisation you've made :) The best way is not to use the wordpress default, or to use a copy of it :cheers2:

I have my old blog running on Wordpress 1.5.2 and my new one has latest version... does it worth to upgrade my old blog to Wordpress 2? does it benefit you somehow? SE maybe? or all you get is more complicated control panel?

I can't remember what the changes are between 1.5.2 and 2 but I wouldn't say anything was more complicated. More like easier because functions were added.

The most important reason for upgrading however (as JT 'hinted' at earlier) is the security fixes that have been made.

Between 1.5.2 and 2.1 I would think there have been an awful lot of bugs fixed.
