View Full Version : Review sites
Certain review sites want my traffic as well as their cut as an affiliate.
Is this fair?
thats what most of them seem to want
Do you want fair or do you want business?

I didn't say I didn't want business anywhere in the post.

You just need to investigate a bit further as there are ways of doing these things. :)

from the review site's email
"we're only accepting new
partners that can provide links back from quality pages."
I'm waiting to hear back what they mean by 'quality page'
I personally think link back OR affiliate cut is fair

If the link back had to be on the main tour then no I wouldnt bother in a million years.
Probably not fair to your affiliates who may see your link to a review site as a traffic leak. Thing is, do you need their business or are you better off without them?
Looks like these guys want it everyway. Affiliate traffic and your traffic becomes their traffic and the curious surfer will spend time on their reveiw site and the danger is they may likely sign up to something else.

If you need anyones business that bad that you have to put up a traffic leak you are going to struggle.

agreed, this is why I'm waiting to hear what they mean by quality page
In my experience, traffic from a good review only tends to last a few days and therefore I have stopped putting fixed links back to review sites as we were sending them tons more traffic than they returned
There is maybe 5 review sites that send sales, I certainly wouldnt be linking back to any off them though from a main site 50% of sales is enough

There is a surge when you get listed, but many keep sending the sign ups.
I took down the links to the review sites and just put their review on my server. IMO putting links to their sites would also lead to them suffering, they will be getting traffic they sent going to another review site to sign up.
