We've invested quite a lot of money on that hope :)

The only thing that we have to worry about is the extra money you would make if everyone in the UK was forced to sell shitty R18 video which the customer is already thoroughly pissed off with. :cheers2:

I bet AEBN are absolutely shitting themselves too. :lmfao:

Much as I dislike censorship, blaming the BBFC for any future changes is about as useful as blaming me. The blame lies with the following groups: The EU, the British government, the right wing media, religious morality etc...

We're a land of free-minded people, ruled by authoritarian puritans. I see a very scary future for this country, and changes to Internet regulation are a very small part of it.

We have become a more and more socially free country. Britain has become a nation of sex, drink and drugs. But while we enjoy ourselves, right wing, nationalistic politics are taking over. We are likely to wake up one day soon and find our freedom drastically curtailed, and having to certify our online content will look like child's play in comparison.

Why right wing??? It is the left wing who want to have us on national databases, regulate everything we do, curtail our freedoms.....

The British left went into hiding in the late 80s and have barely been heard from since, except when George Galloway appeared on celebrity Big Brother. The Labour Party had lost any trace of socialist ideas by the late 90s. We're part-run from America with help from both major political parties, Rupert Murdoch etc. Where's the left?

Yes I still consider labour to be left wing.... not the radical left of old as Blair knew that was never electable....... they cleverly use the centre ground to get elected but then bring in some of the older left wing policies under new guises...... minimum wage, human rights, health service, education, devolution.......

Bullshit. That's not how politics works at all.

Someone will be campaigning (bbfc?) behind closed doors

Somewhere in England a gathering of old school boys is taking place, the whisky is flowing, the cigars are burning, and we overhear a conversation..

BBFC: "hey pals we're missing out on a huge chunk of pocketmoney by not regulating and forcing internet porn to classify itself like real goods porn. And you know some of that pocketmoney will come your way in donations and kickbacks, nudge nudge wink wink"

Politician Pals: "We'll start to draw up legislation immediately. Can you put together some guidelines and penalities for us to draught the legislation around? If it's enough money you know there could be peerages in it for you!"

BBFC: "No problem. We'll have that to you before parliment closes for the summer. We look forward to doing business with you"

Monday at BBFC head office a meeting is taking place..

BBFC Bods Brainstorming Session: "The internet is hard to regulate. We'll have to word it in such terms as to make it sound that if they don't use us to regulate their content they're likely to be prosecuted. Force them to use us so that we can protect them from legal charges..

BBFC Bods Brainstorming Session: "Let's get some industry contacts in. Sound them out. See what they'll do and not do. See how gullible they are. We'll have to sell it to them that this will be good for the UK industry, and we only want to protect them"

And they all lived happily ever after..

or possibly...

Somewhere in England a gathering of old school boys is taking place, the whisky is flowing, the cigars are burning, and we overhear a conversation..

Secret Meeting: "hey pals we're missing out on a huge chunk of money by these webmasters on the internet being able to show uncensored porn whereas we have to abide by the BBFC rules. We have to pay huge amounts in licencing fees and sales are down. Let's have a meeting with the BBFC and see if we can get them to regulate the internet."

BBFC: "No problem. Sounds like we can all make a good bit of change from that idea. Le's meet up to discuss it further"

Monday at BBFC head office a meeting is taking place..

BBFC Bods Brainstorming Session: "The internet is easy to regulate, all we need to do is get it made illegal to show unlicenced videos online and they'll have no choice but to licence them or take them down. We'll have no problem pushing the legislation through cos everyone hates the idea of uncensored porn being readily available. It causes death and destruction, wars and all sorts of bad things."

Industry Contact: "Cool :) I'm not going to argue with you because I resell other peoples already licenced content so it doesn't affect me and this is just what the old boys want to hear. It also means that affiliates will have to send me all their traffic because they won't be able to send it to sites outside the UK or anyone that isn't licenced. I'll make it sound good, run it by a few people and get back to you."

That works too :D

Either way it's not the EU, the British government, the media right and the religious morality to blame, they just follow the money. LOL
