Had a few problems with the speed of downloading on my site. When I spoke to the server techs they said there can be problems with the connection from the UK to NY!

Anyone else found this is a problem or are they just talking a load of bollocks?

could be a routing problem.

They are talking utter bollocks. Who is the host and what crappy network are they persisting with?

I'm with Webair. Latest explination was it was a problem with one of their route providers but this problem is becoming too frequent for my liking.

do a tracert.

in windows XP:-

Go start menu> Accessories> command prompt

type "tracert yourdomain.com"

It'll think for a while then spit back numbers

The times are in milliseconds so bigger is bad. it'll display the host name next to the time so its not hard to see where the delays are. I just did mine and got 144 ms to get to Texas.

Yep, done all that. Its the last 6-7 hops which are the worst ranging from
96ms to 115ms.

Doesnt matter who the host is you need to ensure that you give the best possible service to your subscribers.

Thats what I'm trying to do. Doesn't matter how good your content is if people have trouble downloading it.

Nationalnet.com before you look ANYWHERE else. If you are serving video don't use ANY company that uses cogent or your members will abandon ship in moments.
