Is anyone thinking of offering movies for playback on the PSP?

I own a games shop and just got an email from one of our suppliers about commercial software thats turns DVDs etc into the format for playback on PSP turns out its a cheap piece of software.

Not that I'm thinking of doing it or even if it's a good idea.

Though I know it's quite big in Japan adult psp movies..

how's the legal situation? the PSP is using a proprietary file standard, i think, is one even allowed to officially sell material without Sony's OK?

I think to offer them for sale you need sony's ok but I was reading an article the other day regarding japanese firms producing adult material for the psp that where done with the ok from sony.

The article said that they had learnt from the mistake of vhs and betamax and the availability of porn on vhs is what helped the format beat betamax. I'll see if I can find the link.

I think the disks are a different size.

But yes it does play discs. I suspect Sony will bring out DVD's for the PSP.

Do not forget if you make films to sell in the UK they will need to be put through the film sensers for the old certificate.

they do plan to release movies on the Universal Media Disc (UMD) used with the PSP. but UMD isn't DVD.

i've seen an american site selling adult dvd movies that's also selling them on the umd disks... probably going to happen over here soon..i've seen a japanese imported version of the psp and it's a very impressive machine.. :)
