Take note:
If you get a call from this no, do not phone back.
Its a scam.
Just had it called on my mobile.
I thought at first it was a model.
So I checked the net for the area to work out who it was.
On the net it came back as a scam.
As usuall people complain and the authoraties do nothing. Another case of how to steal from people and get away with it. But I guess they are too busy locking up old ladies for not paying there council tax.
anyway the details of the firm are:
08700 679 834 (do not phone it)

They phone then hang up.
You call back.
I did a search in google, they are very well known.
Its worth putting the no into your mobile and name it scam. This way if it comes up just ignore it.

I really don't think it is possible to charge £15 from an 0870 call.
As I use a lot of numbers and my 0870#s just cover themselves.

The scam is quite simple - I presume this is a case of CLI dropping
They have an automated dialler that dials out mobile numbers at random - they only let it ring once to make sure you dont have chance to answer it. As all mobile phones have caller ID, so you see a missed call from this number (this is why they dont call landlines). This costs them nothing.
Quite a few people will call the missed call number back - sure its a national rate number rather than a premium rate one, but that makes it more likely for people to call back...
Typical kickback rates for 0870 numbers range from 1p-3.5p depending if it is peak, evening, or weekend (and dependant on your agreement with the number supplier). Not much, but when you have called 10 of thousands of people it starts to add up quickly. The trick is how to keep people on the phone - this is where the magic of the scam is.
If you call this number (I haven't but I suspect this will happen or a variation of this) the number will appear to ring forever, most people wait 60-90 seconds to see if voicemail kicks it - it doesn't. What happened though, was that the call was answered immediately by a computer, and you were in fact listening to a recorded message of ringing - hence you get charged for the call, and they get their kickback.
The scam works better with 070 style personal numbers as the kickback rates are higher.
Ofcom knows about the scams, but I suspect they do nothing...

There are no numbers that charge £15 unless you're stupid enough to hang on the line for 5 mins, or in this case a couple of days.
There are way more 'false positive' hoaxes on the internet than there are actual scammers so beware of looking up a number on the internet and it comming back with loads of 'this is a scam' when infact it's just a company that some individual has a grudge against.
Though this is one probably is a scam, however I think Telxl are a company that provide services to other people so they may actually not be at fault in this situation.
