How do i get nice thumbs?

I have noticed on all the TGP's that use thumbs instead of text links to the gallerys that the thumb pics are all of very good quality what do you use to get them like that?

Most people use Photoshop for editing and enhancing H/Q thumbs rather than the available auto-crop options.

It doesn't crop, but it's handy if you don't really need that.

yes I find photoshop best for doing thumbs. You can create some nice easy "actions" which speeds up the process of doing a batch of thumbs.

Yeah most of those thumbs you're talking about are heavily Photoshopped. The actual pics on the galleries look nothing like them. Makes them very eyecatching and much more clickable though.

If you're really in a hurry, I always find that a quick Levels adjustment and some tinkering with Brightness / Contrast can work wonders on a dull image.

Took me about 5 mins to do that, but you'd want most of the steps recorded as actions if you were doing it a lot. You could probably make one Photoshop action for the whole thing actually, and then just tweak the final result yourself for each image if it needs it.

Then goto "Load Actions" on the Actions palette & import that file. A folder (or "Set") called "Photo Enhance" should then appear in your list of actions with an action inside it called "Enhance". Try that & see what happens.

You probably need to put that .atn file inside your Photoshop "Actions" folder.

And don't say I never do nothin' for ya ;)

Wicked of you to post that daveydude, I'll give that a go when I'm working on my own PC. I use Photoshop but I'm conscious that my thumbs could be better than they are at present.
