I just got a nice electrical item from my host which has a US 2 pin plug.
Will it work here ok if i buy a plug adaptor and are the voltages the same?
Basiclly, will i blow up my house if i plug it in :)
*AFAIK* yes - I bought an IPod from the States many years ago and it worked fine with a UK lead and also I can take my UK laptop to the States and plug it in with just a converter and it works no problems!

yeah you should be able to with a correct adaptor, i remember having a US hairdryer that my friend bought me from holiday and it worked fine with the adaptor she gave me too. The only reason i still dont have it is because i threw it at my brother and it broke :( haha

You really need to check the voltage rating of the thing you got before you plug it in. US voltage is 110V 'ish, UK is 230V.
It may be rated for 100-240V in which case you should be OK.

Just had it confirmed it will work :)
Most appliances are now dual voltage cos its cheaper to pop one transformer in than to make two different versions.
Just the plugs are different.

Nice one :)
good news it works, most stuff says 110-220 and will work but I have plugged stuff that just says 110 and it worked ok too :o)
Plug it into the shaver port :)
