as far as I can see, councils are re housing people, but no one else is

no great suppprise to me, its happened before in Korea where people were forced out of their homes to make way for the olympics.

Where I used to live the council are in the process of removing all the housing, to help people they are paying them compensation of 5K per home, a choice of relocation, fully decorated & writing off the rent arrears.
