View Full Version : Inline Frames & IE7
Hi,
Is anyone having problems viewing sites with IE7 when the site has inline frames.
I can find loads of info on google, but no definitive answer on how to view sites with inline frames by changing settings etc.
I currently have 4 customers complaining about this issue on our network.
My colleque has installed IE7 to test and it works perfectly.
So any help or pointers will be much appreciated
can't get it to install it says my copy of windows is not genuine
I have just installed IE7 thanks to the shitty little icon in my tray that said i had an update that needed to be installed
My whole IE experience is now a new learning curve.
Took me a couple of mins to find how to get to my favorite list
THE SWINES!
btw get an error on B&B now
Internet Explorer does not support feeds with DTDs.
No idea if this is to do with DVT JT RGP SM AOL SMS OR BRB JP or my new shiny XBOX FIFA FUCK KNOWS WHATS MI6 ASHES GOING ON

I got IE7, same way you did, similar problems trying to find how to do things I used to do all the time though no probs with sites.
I will say IE7 make pages look better though :-)

IE7 has a problem with IFRAMES and base target="_blank".
The cure ( from the server side ) is to recode the page. "base" will only now work correctly within the header tag as far as IFRAMES go. Other alternative is to recode each hyperlink to use target="_blank" within that link.
This is the only issue I know of wrt IE7, and I'd call it a bug, but rather than wait for MS to decide if they will fix it, I recoded the scripts on the server side.
Got IE 7 as an auto update in the office here a few days back and seeing zero problems at all and we have had zero customer support issues (so far touching wood).
Sorry, should add that we don't use frames.

My iframes are al working :-) thank god
So the target=_blank issue with IE7 is only to do with the base? Not target blank within an anchor tag?
There's so many reports of IE7 treating target blank as a pop-up and giving a "this pop-up was blocked" or whatever warnings. It's hard to work out what is the real case. I don't want to install it myself and check.. although I could put it on the laptop I guess.

I didn't install IE7, cos it will be hard to get rid of. I worked with someone who had IE7 and fixed it til he said it was OK and I could see it was OK with IE6.
But as far as I know target blank within the A tag is working OK on IE7.
Sorry not to be more help on this one.
Hi,
The following process seems to have eliminated all our customer service issues.
First check which version of internet explorer 7 you have installed.
1 - right click top grey menu bar line and tick the menu bar option
2 - now you will have a menu bar option appear.
3 - click help - then click About internet Explorer
4 - A box appears telling you which version you have installed.
5 - make sure the version number is not below - 7.0.5730.11
If your version is lower than this one, you will have a bug in your
software.
Either upgrade to the latest bug free version of Internet Explorer.
OR
Try disabling the phishing option in your version.
1 - Click Tools
2 - Click Internet Options
3 - Select the advanced tab
4 - Scroll down to the Phishing Filter option and Disable it.
OR lasty you can get an IE6 emulator to view the site in.
Details of how to install and run this can be found here when reading
