I was driving down the a1. Its got a few militery bases on it.
I noticed a militery police car. Looks like a normall police car.
It made me wonder if they have full poice power over non militery.
Nope they dont - they only have the powers of "constable" when dealing with military personnel. The other one which regularly confuses some people is the British Transport Police who actually have, more or less, the same powers as a normal constable whether it be on the railways or not.
I always thought they they had the same powers if it were military owned land. The ones in Cyprus seem to think they do anyway

Yes Ristac you are correct that on military land they have the authority as it is normally only military that is on this land.. in civil it is the police.. This is why in Spain there are 3 police forces.. Civil, Guardia and local.. one is for in town one for domestic matters and one for higher...
So in all .. to answer could they do anything to anyone in a car on the motorway is NO.. but if you were in the military .. most of the time the police would rather not get involved if there was a problem, say in the pub... as the military police would come along and corporal punishment would be given... NOT SURE I KNOW WHICH ONE I PREFER>>> oh bollocks its the year 2006... any punishments arent enough... Bring back hanging!!!
