Former Conservative Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath has died at the age of 89.
Is that it or do we have the pleasure of one of your jokes to follow? :takethat:
I already know the one that goes...
What was the difference between Edward Heaths Conservative party and the Mafia?
One of thems organized :drink:
They was saying on the news that he was in parliment at the same time as Winston Churchill and also still in parliment in 2001, must have seen some changes in his time.

He was the MP for the area next to mine. Whilst I am a liberal, anyone that hated Thatcher that much couldn't have been all bad.

I dont believe he hated Lady Thatcher, they just didnt agree on many things. Plus the fact that the unions bought down his government and Lady Thatcher defeated the unions must have stuck in his throat a little.
Anyone who was bought up in the 70's and 80's in this country couldnt hate Lady Thatcher, if it wasnt for her we would be in the state we was in those days. 3 day weeks, power cuts, rising debt, unemployment, companies not able to compete.
Plus she let hard working working class families become home owners. That privalege had only ever belonged to the rich before the Thatcher years.
You all probably know this, but apparently when asked recently what her greatest acheivement was Mrs Thatcher said "New Labour" :)

Yes she destroyed them, by allowing them to buy their own homes, by destroying the unions that made them work 3 days a week, by creating the 80's boom, by paving the way for working class families to get further education, by lowering taxes and by giving the nation back some pride. She certainly did ruin it for the working class families
