.....and when I say 'Adult comic readers', I mean adults who still read comics.

I was in WHSmith the other day and noticed a few copies of 2000AD pushed right at the back, next to the photography mags (which I was originally looking at).

After looking through it (actually I almost read the fucking thing) I noticed I was getting the odd strange glance from customers, probably wondering why a hulk of a middle aged man was reading a comic book.

I put the comic back, paid for my photo mags and left the store, regretting afterwards for not buying it.

Back home, I often go up in my loft and browse through some of the hundreds of comics I’ve collected over the years (old Marvel, DC, British publishers like fleetway, etc) and I was wondering if there are any other old farts out there who still like comics and if you do, do you still buy them?

Also, which were your favourite comics of yester-year?

Kind regards.

I used to love the phantom series, punisher, Green Lantern and many others. I also used to read while not a comic in the true sence, the Tintin series and the Asterix & obelix series.

hahaha my brother used to be a 2000AD and Judge Dredd collector, he had tons of em!

I read comics, DC, Marvel - I'm not a totally old fart, but I'm 30, so I'm getting closer

If you like Neil Gaiman's stuff you'll probably enjoy the Sandman series. DC has some good series going right now too. Try Fables, that's good.

Check out the local comic shop, there is a REASON that so many graphic novels and comics are being made into movies.. and that's cos many of them have EXCELLENT stories :cheers2:

Don't let other people's perceived judgements stop you from enjoying some great reading material blue! :crown:

Used to read 2000AD avidly but the ratio of crap stories to good ones got a bit much for me in the end. I remember there always being a debate about what they'd do with the name once Y2K came around, and they ended up doing what nobody expected - nothing! "2000AD" sounds kinda dated now doesn't it?

I'm quite into "mature" (yeah right) graphic novels and love stuff like Preacher, The Authority, & Hellboy. Watchmen is a true classic as well.

Your post bought back memories.

I was allowed one comic as a kid and it was delivered once a week with the newspaper.

I remember the lovely smell of fresh news print when I opened it up. Wierd but true!!

I loved the Eagle which had Dan Dare and the Mysterons!!

And full page cut away drawings of steam engines and things.

Real Boy's stuff - wonderful.

I'm 31, and still have my full comic collection in the closet.

I still read books, though I usually wait for them to come out in graphic novel form because I forget to pick up an issue or two.

I remember when these bad boys were like .75 cents, now they are over 3 bucks regularly. I miss newsprint.

Maybe this will get me off my ass so I can reread that copy of kingdom come I picked up.

I liked the Miracleman (Marvelman until Marvel threatened to sue them) saga in the British 'Warrior' comics in the eighties.
Just received it on CD-Rom recently....ahem. :)

Kind regards.
