Drugs and guns are now common place on the streets.
Each day somone is killed on ther streets.
Police are more interested in sft targets.
If they get an arrest the sentence will probably be suspended.

I think you need to go see other parts of the world - this place is like paradise compared to many countries thats why everyone wants to come here.

Agree and if you think that your particular part of England has gone to hell just move to a better part. There are plenty out there.
Guns may be common place where you live, but they are not where I live. Maybe you should move

Exactly......... This country isnt perfect, but thinking there are better many places is a big mistake. Everywhere has its problems.

I dont think the majority living here would call it a paradise
yes we are lucky....a lot are not so lucky
I've lived in Bradford all my life, which allegedly is one of the most dangerous cities in England, and I've never seen a gun.The only time i've ever seen one was just after the Londonn bombings when the Police in Leeds station were carrying sub machine guns.

Yeh, england isnt really going to hell.
Every generation says that the generation under them is going to going to ruin the country yet, things keep on rolling. But with our new problems I do blame america.

i must honestly say . .
towards the end of my time in Manchester life had become intolerable
the scallies ruled the streets, i had replicas waved in my face regularly
by little shits in hooded tops . .
where do i start ?
i saw the ARU and the Chopper more than i saw standard Panda patrols
i got burgled 4 times in a year . . the last time i came home to find
this kid in my house unplugging my stereo, i called the pigs and they
came 25 minutes later . .
i hadn't realised, but i broke his hand when i restrained him,
few weeks later i got a letter from HIS brief . . he took ME to court.
i moved to Holland because this place is not rotting quite so quickly,
people still have a sense of community and WILL get involved if they
see things wrong on the street . . in England everyone turns a blind eye.
i gradually became as bad as the people around me
you become naturally aggressive as a defense mechanism
i got to the stage i actually knocked some people out because
i THOUGHT they were about to attack me . . ridiculous looking back.

DVT, got any stats to back this up? I know the media, politicians etc. love to make us think the country's going down the tubes. I just don't see much day to day evidence of that.
I live in Brent, one of the UK's murder hot spots. And I still feel safe to walk the streets. So is the country really falling to drugs and guns, or is that just what people like to moan about?

Jerry . . its not about murder . . its about juvenile deliquency
twenty 15 yr old kids who know they are above the law
they can take a grown man down . . and they know it
i agree that its all based on perceptions of crime . . and yes, the media
makes people in safe neighbourhoods feel at risk . . but there are REAL
"no go zones" around the UK . . i guarantee you would not walk through Moss Side at night

1. Bring back national service. I would have hated it, but it would have been good for me. "We can't afford it", so they say, yet we have to pay the social cost of this country going down the nick, seems we can afford that. For those not interested in shooting people, have some form of volenteer work, maybe overseas. It's only the kids of the middle class who get the "gap year".
2. Bring back corporal punishment. A good caning, do it PPV on $ky, public humiliation. Allow the relatives of any old lady who is attacked to take a turn with the cane.
3. Do something about the drug problem. Prohibition doesn't work. It just causes crime. Look to legalization, harm reduction and education. It will be cheaper in the long run.
Oh and I forgot, do something about the schools. They are a disgrace, noone can learn or teach, due to lack of discipline. We had the cane, and I think it got used about once a year if that, but it was there in the glass case.

In Manchester they are just starting the UK's first police dedicated to gang problems.
They consider now the gangs in manchester to be extream.
Also drugs have got cheaper over the years. In fact its got to the stage that there is more profit selling knocked of sigs than drugs.
And drugs are set to become cheaper asmore are being made and brought into the UK.
Reports are now of 10 year old selling drugs.

Also schools are now being asked to search the pupils for drugs and knifes.
More and more people carry weapons.
Its not just about crime increase, its the fact that if I came up to your house smashed your car then hit you with a bat, I would not get much. Probably a suspended sentence.
If I stole a car and ran you over and killed you, I suspect I would get 3 months at most.
In other words it makes sense to comit crime, as the rewards are now outway the punishment.

One of the latest games is to pull in front of you and slam on the breaks, for the insurance.
This has resulted in an increase in insurance costs for all.
On a tv show a week or so ago, a bus firm said that the police did not even bother. So they had to install cctv on all there buses to defend themselves.

In fact its one reason why I suspect house prices have rissen, simply as people want to move away from bad areas.
If people can, then they are paying to keep away from the problems, such as private schools, private health and so on.
But yes some parts are still nice to be in and safe to walk. But there are still wast places that are unpleasent to be in.

That's as good a reason as any.

I like the way you think

It's like this in most Western societies, it's disgusting. Justice doesn't exist, I've said this for years now. If you want justice in the UK you have to carry out your own justice. No point in calling the police because they'll do fuck all most of the time.
DV a few links to backup what your saying would be great, I don't doubt what you're saying for a second but links to the facts and figures are always useful

I've seen a gun in real life once. The only other time I've ever seen one is on the telly, the biggest problem we face is the kinfe culture, not the gun culture - thank god!
When you look at our problem then look at other countries - this may be a bit extreme but what about people in countries who can't complain they've been burgled cause they dont have a house?! Or they can't complain they've been attacked by a group of kids as all the kids from as little as 2 are out looking for water?!
We have it more plush than a LOT of countries, albeit, with our modern society things could be a hell of a lot better if the government would get of their PC ass and start making justice available and stop fighting FOR the criminal rather than the victim.
But I dont think England, or Scotland, or anywhere else in the UK is going to hell. We should be more than happy we get to complain about these things, that we get the option of where we live and what we do and that we at least have a police force and money to be spent.
I'll shut up now, I've ranted lol...

I just think this is exaggerated. On my road, a bunch of teens used to hang out together on the corner. Didn't cause any major problems, but were noisy and boisterous like teens are. Dropped litter, annoyed people, the usual stuff - but basically just kids hanging oput and having a laugh.
The next thing, the police slapped a curfew order on the area and the kids have had to go elsewhere. I just think we're becoming a nation of scared pussies who think that normal teenage behaviour cannot be tolerated.
My grandad grew up in the East End of London in the 20s/30s, and that was REALLY rough - worse than any estate today.

The East End was rough alright . . but still had some community values
In those days if you played with fire - you got burned, but senseless and
motiveless violence was probably less imo - it was all about survival.
If you beat up an old lady in the old East End you could count on a visit . .
The Krays put something back into their community
Never see Salford, Cheetham Hill or Gooch Gangs in Moss Side doing that . .
we all probably hung out on street corners at some point in our lives,
but i'm talking about real FERAL kids here . . they feel nothing at all,
and will not think twice about stabbing or shooting you over nothing.
i'm not making fake drama here . . i know what a shit neighbourhood is
and i know what a "nice" neighbourhood is . . kids hang around in both,
BUT i can only speak from my personal experience . . and in Manchester
plenty of bad stuff happened . . the last straw was a good pal getting
murdered at home in the middle of the day over a few quid.
we had a bail hostel & rehab on our street, EVERY night stolen cars
were racing around our block, my GF's car was burned out and she
wouldn't go out after 21h . . its no way to live - so i got the fuck out.
as i said, i agree that MOST peoples perception of crime is exaggerated
but i refuse to accept my own personal experiences as a figment of
my imagination . . i could list dozens of instances.
i have lived in Cleveland Ohio, Pittsburgh, Amsterdam, Paris . . and none of them
hold a torch to Manchester when it comes to senseless feral youth crime.
there is a "culture of scallies" . . we have 3rd generation muggers & thieves
whose parents congratulate them for coming home with a Flatscreen or 3.
We have always lived in zero crime areas and wouldn't live any other way.
