Would you consider this cheating?

Just been checking one of my Toplists and noticed a newish site that had risen quite rapidly to near the top position.

On examining the site I noticed that on the site updates page there is a row of 3 thumbnails for each weeks site update, only one of the thumbnails (a softcore one) links to a full size image the other 2 thumbnails (hardcore ones) link to different toplists.

I counted a total of 8 thumbnail links on the page to my toplist.

Before I decide to delete and ban the site ... do you consider this to be cheating?

No that's not cheating at all.. Cheating is img srcing or 1x1 frame or hitbotting.

Legitimate traffic is legitimate traffic, even if it is blind links. I often use blind linked thumbs to toplists. Hell I build my own toplists as thumb ones these days.

Of course it's your toplist and you set the rules. So your opinion counts.

Take his traffic and rank his listing based on the productivity of the surfers he's sending .. if the majority of the hits he's sending aint clicking a single link on your page, doesnt deserve to be top of the list innit.

Its not cheating, unless its in your rules. I would put it in your rules though and ask him to stop. Becuase its a shitty un productive way to send traffic. Or alternativly put in an entrance page that the surfer has to click in to get counted.

Most toplists have the option of an enterence that says, "were you cheated into comming here"

I don't think of this as cheating at all. If it's say, a bit tit toplist and the thumbs is a big tit pic then they are looking for big tits. OK, they never got the pic they expected but now they have a choice of al the other big tit sites.

It may or may not be cheating. But its very unproductive. A top list should be about sending clicked productive traffic and returning clicked productive traffic. Sending blind thums traffic isnt going to be productive and so its not fair on others who have text links sending the surfer to the site.

I would change your t&c's and stop it. Make people use banners or text links that you approve.
