Ive got a forum for surfers, it has 4,000 members and it gets about 20 new ones sign up a day. But its as dead as fuck. Anyone have any experiance with adult forums who can help me out.

We are in the business of entertaining them - Perhaps you need to look at adding a few threads which give a few pics away
well, in our experience adult surfer forums that do not tease folks back in will mostly suffer a slow death. since the web became a thing for the masses in the late 1990s, you do not only have the 'geekish' ones who want to be part of a community but more and more of the TV style surfers. they switch on and wish to be entertained. they don't give much to the community but want everything out of it.
to circumvent this, you'd need to moderate the forum in holiday fashion, think club reps, someone to prod the surfer to engaging.
games are usually quite helpful, if the forum has chat rooms, even better. shooting the shit live is way more fun than on a static board. you could have themed chats, 1 or 2 hours scheduled and do updates in content before that, so once they are leaving the scheduled chat show, they can wank over the newest material. you can announce the newest additions at the end or during the chat show.

Banter always helps. An opinionated bigot mouthing off on controversial topics keeps people coming back for more and more. Maybe you could invent a character? Mix that with regular free pics posts and I’m sure that will do the trick.
I moderate a US network’s forum and it’s the strong characters that keep the board alive. There’s also an un-moderated section where anything (and I mean anything) goes so long as it’s legal. It’s not for the faint hearted --:

The problem is all the above suggestions, though correct means me doing something. I really cant be bothered making up fake nicks etc, I use to do that. They kept the bored goiing but when I stopped the board slows right down.
Wonder if its worth paying someone in either banners of beer tokens to do it

the direction i was heading is you having a couple of mods. first of all it helps keeping the place clean, as no crap like CP survices if some asshat posts it, and you can try and have them spread out far enough so there is always someone watching 24/7 or close to that.

could monitor your forum for some time and see if you have a more active person or two there, they may already make nice mod material.

understandable in some ways. OTOH someone being active on your forum clearly enjoys it, if it's a more niche specific forum they also know what works for the surfer arriving there.
while with some webmaster doing it you may end up with someone just doing it halfassed, to reap the perks. like think of the thread we had where someone mixed stockings in with pantyhose.

Well I have a team of moderators that work it for me.
People that post on there get very upset with negative comments.
Janey and I have been in the front line for a long time and have had so much abuse that we have become rather thick skinned.
But the people that post on UKEX are litteraly your next door neighbour, and of course being so daring to post a naked pic, is quite a rush for them.
It really doesnt take more than a few negative comments to put them off posting anymore.
My team have a very clear understanding of this and police it with great efficiency which results in a safe and positive forum for the members.
The lady that heads our team also has her own website. I could perhaps hook you two up to see if there is anything you could offer her in return for helping your forum. I am sure she would be interested in some extra traffic in return but you would really need to speak direct to her about it offboard.

thinking about it I have bbwforum.com ... sat there unused if anyone clued up about that niche has any suggestions on how to best develop it ...
if it's unused the best development would be for me to initiate a transfer and you to agree. :D
