Foreign Operator of Obscene Web Sites Arrested on Federal Obscenity Charges

To: National Desk

Contact: U.S. Department of Justice, 202-514-2008 or 202-514-1888 (TDD)

WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Danilo Simoes Croce, 42, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, was arrested in Orlando, Fla. on charges of conspiracy to distribute obscene matters, the Department of Justice and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service announced today. If convicted, Croce faces up to five years in prison and a $150,000 fine.

According to documents filed in the District Court in Orlando, Croce and his corporation, Lex Multimedia, operated Web sites offering obscene videos for download or delivery in the U.S. The videos depicted bukkake, fisting and depictions of defecation, urination and vomiting in conjunction with sex acts. These Web sites are being hosted on Web servers in Texas. Croce's videos are delivered to his U.S. customers by mail and common carriers from a location in Orlando, Fla.

"The investigative efforts in this case not only fully endorse the Postal Inspection Service's commitment to the Attorney General's initiative against hard core pornography, it sends a loud message to those involved that they operate at enormous risk of apprehension," said Henry Gutierrez, inspector-in-charge, U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Miami.

An arrest is not proof of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless he is found guilty.

The case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Richard D. Green and Matthew Buzzelli of the Obscenity Prosecution Task Force within the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg of the U.S. Attorneys' Office for the Middle District of Florida.

The obscenity investigation is being led the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Investigative assistance was also provided by agents from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the Department of Homeland Security from Orlando, Fla

This kinda throws up some questions............

Lets just imagine that someone UK based was shooting content then popping it in the post across the pond for some guys to then upload it for subsequent sale on Theatres across the globe.

Is that person running a very real risk of being nabbed as soon as they land on USA soil ?

Anyone know much about the "U.S. Postal Inspection Service" ?

There are loads of people all over the World feeding content into the states for it's subsequent sale & download, many of whom are posting it.

Any thoughts / advice please ?

Thanks.

Similar to the Bristish Guy promoting and running gambling sites from outside the US and was arrested on entry you mean?

I read somewhere they have carte blanche over what thay want to open and inspect, I also think it's illegal to send Hardcore pornography via the US post, you need to use couriers.....I think

Thanks Skunk, yeah, tis similar to the chap involved with an on line Gambling business, as soon as he landed he was nabbed.

Its interesting that if you're right & that its ok to use couriers but not the mail service then thats sorta odd (Not saying I dont beleive you just that it's a very odd mentality if thats the case)

This kind of thing is why I will never go to the USA. Admittedly, it's a very small risk that anything would happen but it's a totally life-fucking one.

Fisting has always been a mystery to me. Who the fuck gets off on seeing someone stick their fist up someone else? Live and let live but thats a strange one to me.
