Olympics 2012 London

Lets face it, it will be a disaster. Nothing built till last minute. Transport a disaster.

I bet labour will hope they loose the election so they do not take the blame.

It took them 7 months to build a roundabout in Leeds not that long ago.

Oh well, it will be paid for by London tax payers, so who cares.

The Manchester student politics sucked.

I bet if the President of France had not made that statement about food, then they would have probably got it. I bet he will be hated now in France.

Oh well, 7 years. No chance in hell.

Thing is, I do not think that the UK government really wanted it.

It felt to begin with that it was just to make people feel better. After all we were ranked at the bottom.

I suspect that many in the government are panicking now, not sure what to do.

After all 7 years is not long. Its going to take a few months to plan everything, as I bet they have not fully planed stuff.

It will be interesting to see when they start building.

Then they will have to put the contracts out to tender. Maybe the Germans will get the contracts as they did with the dome.

Transport itself will have to be improved. Do you think they can do this in 7 years????

And what if there is a change in government. In 4 years time you may have a government that has no interest in the Olympics or disagrees with its plans.

It all depends on how much planning has gone into this.

Also I am going to be 40 in 2012, so I will not be in a good mood.

It may work, but 7 years is not long.

Hi,

Where is all your positive mental attitude?

We as a country have just won something.

I felt so proud today to be British because we actually were in a race to win a coverted event.

And when it was announced we had got the gig, I was, well overcome for a moment or two.

The country will pull together and the government will make this happen (even if they have their own agenda's for doing so)

Personally I am very excited by this because I can take my lad to something special that has not been in the UK since 1948.

Surely that must mean something to you? Not me taking my lad to the games but the fact we have something major coming to the UK!

I say well done to the team that WON it for us :gold:

And stick this up your ass you french B*stards :mcdonalds

Exactly!

Anywhere else in the world they would see how great this is, but no, not here we have to moan about it.

P.S Allan, what a load of twoddle. It will be a great Olympics, the best yet, we are actually great at putting on huge events, plus we have had very recent experiance with the comonwealth games and the European cup, you are one of the British who just like to moan about everything

The opening of the Greek olympics was simply amazing and will take some beating - In the uk there is just so much talent, I expect the opening to blow the World away -
And yes, I expect everything to be fully build and ready well before time - Money from the government has already been set aside and there is also over 2bn in private cash to hand -
England is one of the best countries in the World, and this olymics will prove it
Also - Think of all those kids now who are reasonably good at sports - They have a real target to aim for -
This is really fantastic for England :guinness:
