Today's Porn Laws - My verdict

OK, my mortal friends I shall give my verdict.

Basically two things will happen.

1. Nothing. I suspect the CPS will not bother with cases as they are not winnable.

You see you will have cases were people simply fake pics, which it will be daft to prosecute.

Plus any bondage sites will (if they have sense) try to be arrested simply for publicity.

And also what about films. Many classics have abuse in them. Look at clockwork orange.

Sure the public gave support on the question 'should we ban violent porn'. Its the same when you ask 'should we bring back hanging'. Many will support it, but when you then ask who should you hang, people cannot decide.

I can see artists going to court.

Its as workable as the fox hunting laws.

2. It will be used as a possible lesser sentence for rapists. By this were they do not have enough evidence to charge a rapist for rape, but they may at least get a conviction if they posses violent porn.

But the problem with the law is that it shall not prevent a rape or murder. Rather take up police time and waste money to charge people. To search a pc is very costly.

In other words, police who would be targeting cp, will be going after some person who has a few pics on his pc.

I would even suspect many people to have such pics on there pc of discs from downloading porn over the years without even remembering.

I cannot help to think that soon those Japanese comics will soon be illigal.

And what if you shoot such content (but fake it), are you realy going to be charged.

What about all those hammor horror films, suly they are full of violence sex???

Its not been 12 hours old this and they are already on the news saying its daft.

I would not be suprised if a few artists start to produce such art to create problems.

DV... I've already pointed out to you that 'ordinary', i.e. nn- pornographic films are out of the remit of the proposed legislation.

The material has to be pornography to be within it's scope.

And they are going after faked pics too - wasn't there a cp case where a guy photoshopped a woman's tits to be very small to his liking, it was deemed to be producing cp and he was jailed.

That's the real problem with a crazy law like this, it is open to abuse by the police - and it will depend where you live - I'm sure the Met will be arresting a lot more people than the Suffolk constabulary... If they arrest any at all.

When they do arrest any people, the first cases will be test cases to work out the fineries of the law - they will no doubt pick on Joe Poor in a council house, to make sure he is not likely to get a good human rights Barrister and take it all the way to the European Courts...
