i start to prefer it over all the other IMs. more stable and relieable (as my recent ICQ issues prove) and if something takes ages to explain in written words, a quick free phone chat is a click away.

love it.

Im getting so much spam with ICQ Im thinking of ditching it. But everyone uses it, do many people use skype?

for some reason people seem to be rather reluctant about handing out their Skype user names. while they will happily post their ICQ/MSN/AOHell on every other board, you often have to ask them directly. prolly a try to keep it less spammy than ICQ. so god knows what the dark figure is. :D

in the long run i'd say Skype is the better solution, as it offers IM and the very clear sounding phone option. there's even a plugin that allows you to communicate with landlines.

it's been around for a while, but I am forever getting people I know to use it. I started with skype last summerish, maybe a bit later.

i find the thought that AOHell doesn't have its claws on it yet very comforting. prolly why it's actually stable. :D

you know it's amazing how many people I know back in the uk who have accounts with AOL, it seems to completely fucking hijack their machines ::: actually worse than any virus/trojan I have bumped into over the years. last week, a friend of mine gave me her AOL profile url and I couldn't see it unless I paid a monthly sub!

i recall several AOHell users telling me they have to run the AOHell browser in the background else they'd disconnect all the time. that alone suggests the whole setup is a wee bit intrusive.
