Summer has been a shit period for sales though that is somethign that has seemed to happen each summer. By this I mean new business growth, I am still seeing sales though the growth has dipped a lot over the past 4 weeks.
I had a good look at stats to see what was making me money and this is the list I came up with based on revenue paid out to me -
1) Penis Pills
2) Web Cams
3) Phone Sex
4) Pay Sites
All of this is making me wonder weather internet dating is something I need to explore as my stats sugest that users are leaning more towards interaction as apposed to downloading content.

Yep pay sites are suprising me, this week has been the worst I have known in my short time for subscription sales. Lately I seem to be seeing a lot of people joining then quiting right away as apposed to them remaining active.
If this pattern stays the same then I will have to switch to PPSU.
As for pills they sell - I can not explain why I do not do anything special to promote them but they have consistantly made sales. Phone lines are new to me I kind of did them as a favour to a follow board member, I again have done nothing other then list them and the money is climbing month on month.

There has been a trend for signing up and cancelling almost immediately for a while...
Surfers are getting wise and using the rip exe's. They download what they want PDQ and are happy for a while. I see quite of few of these surfers coming back every few months to do this :) It's also a reason why I think the 30 day no re-bill offer a lot of us have at a few $$$ more is also popular. This is saves the surfer and us from chargebacks, when they forget to cancel :)
A lot of US sites have multi access to up to 10 or even more sites for one price. Do these retain members longer than the one off pay site ? Not many UK programmes offer this and it may be a way to go.
Matt what are your thoughts on this, as you have one of the UK largest if not the largest programme :)

Maybe its that your marketing skills are better attuned to selling in that order.

For me there is no summer slow down, and not to sound like an ass, but the more traffic you control thru your sites, the bigger you get the more consistant numbers are, for me the summer is usually a time to grab more traffic into my network by building new sites, new SEO projects, or new anything, and taking some time away from the computer :)
On the side note of people signing up for trials and cancels just to let you know an industry average on that and has always been 30% of people who sign up for a trial re-bill into recurring members and those typically last 1-3 months, you can base wether or not to go with recurring or pps on those numbers and what you are getting paid.

I would like to know how the 'industry' got these figures and when they were last updated.

Well since I manage a few paysites, and have owned several in the past as well as done consulting with big companies, such as playboy, twistys, ns, and others, I can tell you from personal experience as well as having discussed the issue with company representitives from places like topbucks and others, my numbers would come directly from them.
I am sure if you brought those numbers to any program owner they would tell you typically that they are true, micro niche sites such as foot fetish and others don't hold true to this model as they are typically purcashed by a different sort of surfer. I can go into more details if you like? without giving away sales figures of course.
Now if you want to talk about different kinds of traffic and their ratios I can discuss that as well including review site traffic, tgp traffic, mgp traffic, traffic based on skim sites, and no skim sites, as well as gallery, seo, since I make a very nice living doing this, ask away and I will go over my personal experience as well as the numbers, let me know.

what pay sites do you manage? :) always looking for sites to promote, MPG - TGP blah blah I dont get involved, its not in my business model for a number of reasons many of which I dont want to disclose.
As for retention - rebills to you & I - Site owners I feel in general could do a lot more to retain members. It seems to me to be the same sites retaining customers and none of them are micro niche.
Suburban Amateurs, Real Punting, British Doggers, Spank My Bottom, Lady Sonia, British Centerfolds ALL retain users in many cases they ave done for many many months.

Quick answers
1) I work for twistys.com
2) We work very hard to retain members however not every site out there is geared for that, some make money in other ways.(long story so not going to go into explaining it right this second.)
3) Typically all those sites are sub or micro niche as they are geared to a specific micro audience in particular britain, and then spanking a single model, and punting :P
Hope that helps :)

Review sites in what way, their ratio on paysites? typically it is low similar to SE but this is a by product of two things; 1) they don't send the volume of traffic of some other sources (tgp galleries, mgp galleries etc.) but the traffic they do send is VERY filtered as in they have clicked a link to specifically see the paysite in question. 2) Review sites typically all use PPS options because they educate their surfers to cancel, this does two things typically there traffic DOES NOT re-bill and two, that traffic will NEVER re-bill. (the turn around on this is that many paysite programs are now switching review sites to revshare only.)
As for a direct number I can't give out other peoples stats but I would give you a number under 1:100 on average.

Oh yeah the UK is Micro niche - I forgot!
Those sites are ALL Amateur you sites are having just looked babes. A micro niche is be definition of this business based on seminers I have been too is 'Midgets in wellies fucking tall women'
Not amateurs / nylons or spanking.
In fact spanking is a massive fetish here in the Uk, the issue is in the states guys wack up sites with glitz and glam tours and fill the insides with shite over exposed / colour burned images.
Each of the site I have mentioned provide exclusive in house produced content and also from what I gather work very hard to retain customers.
OK here my expert opinion - this statement on your site tells me a user will join prob by a trial if you have one and download content and basically get bored. 3/4 million images and 16K videos is a bit of a mega site unless I am wrong and you have another trick to get them rebilling.
Twistys.com opened its 'doors' on October 10th, 2001. Since then, we have worked day and night to make it the #1 babe paysite online. How did we do it? By listening to our members and giving them what they want. Twistys is updated everyday, has 650,000+ pics, 1,500+ models and 16,000+ video clips. As a result, Twistys now can boast one of the BEST retention rates in the business.
i have seen my other thing outperforming subscriptions (i.e "ccbill sites") for some time now. this trend seems to be increasing...
although unlike most people in this biz - im not willing to mouth off about wht that other thing is to my competitors!

Review site conversions are way up on lots of sources of traffic. But rebills are way down
