View Full Version : Porn. The new gay.

I have been thinking about this.
Not so long ago people were anti gay, mainly as it was an offence.
But this created a belife that it was wrong to be gay or suport anyone gay (publicly). Although its clear people had gay friends, but would fear publicly suporting them.
This fear created a sort of 'kings new cloths' were people would simply go with the crowd, rather than daring to say anything else.
And although times have changed, this stigma still luks on. Though at least things are improving.
But I see this very much with porn. To some extent porn was illigal some years back, buut is not legit (of sorts). But people are made to feel they cannot say they like porn. Its a stigma. If you say you like it, then your a dirty old man. There are excemtions of couse, such as lap dancing is 'almost' acceptable. As is the lads mags.
This is my point. In many ways porn is being tret in the same ways as being gay was some years back.
We all know that probably every hose in the UK has a porn film in it. I know many muslims who love porn. Yet if you asked anyone, I bet they would say no they have never seen a porn film.
But then again if people were more relaxed about porn, I wonder if they would have less interest. A double edge sord of sorts.
Actually I've been thinking this too,I don't know if people have noticed but recently there have been alot of porn themed programmes on the t.v and radio and for once they're not all saying that we're child molesters, which is a start. It's in the public eye more & more these days, which can only be a good thing.

When I told one of my friends that I had attended the webmaster bash on Sat he told me I was a sad bastard. So the stigma is alive and well within some people. But then he was always a bit judgemental that one......

Well its a funny thing - but whenever I used to ask people what they used the web for their first response was always 'I never look at porn' I just formed an opnion that as no one ever loooked at porn that I ever spoke to there was probably one sad old guy somewhere who was rich and was keeping us all alive :D
Later on I formed an opinion that people just lie their heads off.
As for gay - theres still lots of people who are violently homophobic - most of them claim religion as their basis. it takes years to change peoples minds about stuff - theres still some people out there who think being black is a good enough reason to kill them - sighs.
What with the government in the uk considering tougher restraints on porn I dont think we are anywehere near people just chilling out - they might think it but they sure as shit wont be saying they watch porn anymore than most guys will admit they have seen a prostitute.
Jeez when I was working i had more regulars than the local golf club - but its ok to go to golf its absolutely not ok to be seen shagging a prostitute - laughs.
Its ok - I didn't want their kudos - simply their money. actually I'd rather it was more tightly controlled - that might scare some people off out of it and allow me to go back to the glory days of lots of cash :D
I think DVTimes has got a point. Isn't it because porn is wank fodder and wanking is still a taboo subject. Lads going to lap club are just lads being lads together and that's OK.

We need the hypocrisy . . the Brits enjoy porn more with some repression included

Yes its funny how no one looks at porn but yet its still a multi million pound buisiness that practically has pushed every inovation on the web. But still you speak to anyone about porn and they havnt watched it

It was also the porn industry that got the video market started, those years back.

Well porn has driven the sales of everything since the invention of the camera - later on cinefilm, the polaroid was driven on porn sales for people wanting to photo the missus getting shagged, home amateurs drove the video cam market and of course the web.
What cracked me up about 15-20 years ago was a guy who got nicked for making am-porn - this was in the days when people distributed dodgy swinger tapes and in due course got a visit from the plod for being naughty - anyway this guy and his wife in North London caught a rap for making filth - turned out they got the money for the cam and the editing stuff from a government small business grant and a princes trust award - laughs - probably not what the government and HRH Charles had in mind - still they made a tidy profit.
