My mate rang me the other night his kids had been on shareware p-p shite and got hit with the usual crap of viruses and Trojans etc.. anyway popped over to his place and after 3 hours of fucking about decided to reformat the disc etc..

Asked him for the installation software CD XP home etc.. on checking no sign of the CD plenty of other crap but no XP, i explained that he should have been given the CD when he purchased the computer etc.. next day he pops over to PC World and explains the situation

Fuck me they don't give you the CD apparently its there policy since 2002 after a lot of arguing he asked how much to buy a new XP Home Edition lol £200.00 and they still don't give you the CD they have to install it for you with an additional cost of £50.00

Cut a long storey short i purchased a CD from another retailer £47.00 including the licence etc..

Every Computer i have purchased has always come with the software even though its pre-installed on the machine, I'm sure these cunts must be breaking the law how the fuck can they charge you for something you already bought ?

My mind boggles

Keeping the kids off your mate's PC is another tactic that might be employed, or not letting them use p2p progs!

I have been saying this for years about PC world.

Tell him to ask PC world for £200 back cos he doesn't want Xp on his machine

Talking about Cunts - what about my fucking bank?
Put my first CCBill cheques in to get cashed - they slap on a seven pound fee and tell me it'll take 6 weeks to process.
Just checked my account and they obviously forgot to tell me about their additional service. For no extra charge they will COMPLETELY LOSE your cheques and keep no record of you handing them over to the teller.
Bleedin' marvellous, ain't it!
I use Auctionchex.com now.

We should make this the 'Bunch Of Cunts' thread.
Who do you nominate as a 'Bunch Of Cunts'?

PC World PC's come with a system backup disc. It includes a copy of XP but it's all preloaded with shit too ...

I dunno if and when they stopped that, but that's how it worked before...

pc world and any other retailer that ships PCs with a windows OS on MUST by law give you at the very least a recovery CD. They have every right to charge you for that CD if a replacement is needed but as they sold you a licensed copy with the original system, you theoretically only need an OEM copy to reinstall.

Go to any online shop and windows xp home OEM will cost you no more than £65. It doesnt surprise me that PC world would charge absolutely absurd prices for software - last time I was in, I spied a 2m network cable for £14.99, must be plastic packaging costing you that extra £14.49 cus last time I checked, a 2m network cable was 50p!?!

Still, if your daft enough to shop there...

If its under gurantee, the best thing to do is pull the hard drive out, drop it lots of times then tell PC world its bust.

I did that with a laptop. To begin with they gave me a phone nomber and said I had to take it up with the manufater. But as it was Sat and the store full, I simply started to go around to other customers to waon them not to buy as it would not be fixed. 5 mins later the manager said she would sort my laptop out.

But to be honest, PC world are dreadfull.

My mate has just bought one from them. And it cost £700. To be honest its a pile of poo. Even the mouse is the old ball type. Did not even think they sold them.

But if your getting a new PC, always ask if Windows XP disc comes with the pc. If not, shop else where.

Personaly I think that if you paid for Windows XP, then you should be given a disc.

PC World is just the Asda of computer shops. They sometimes have something useful but on the whole they are cheap, sub-standard and will eventually give you diarrhoea.

Barclays lost £8k of my cheques once in negotiation :( They had no copies and no record of them. But my buisiness manager was great and eventually kicked enough arse that they turned up. I still never found out where they where. Probably sitting on some cunts desk who was off sick

I was under the impression that is was part of the Microsoft licence to hand over the OS disk with the barcoded sticker thingo stuck onto the cover? That's how reputable places down here operate anyway.

PC world isnt reputable though, thats the problem. They are for people who are buying a computer for the first time, or for people who need somethging small, in a hurry and dont mind paying 5 times the price for convenience
