The stories are emerging that the insult was racial, which gives Zidane's action more justification IMHO.

The reason I supported France is that in my experience, the Italians are the most racist, xenophobic people in Western Europe. Unlike the Germans, the Italians have nostalgic memories of the fascist days. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if the insult was racist - it's what I've come to expect from Italians.

Didnt something similar happen a very short time ago? The two players ended up in a proper fight. It ended up in court, the judge fined them and said basically that the FA shouldnt waist the courts time with these things and that they should deal with it themselves, whats on the pitch stays there. I cant be arsed to look for it as Im to ill, but it was only very recently
