Maybe, but unless you can guarantee that the animal you're eating has been organically fed, was free range, and was not involved in any pharmaceutical trials, you're walking a tightrope.

you also have to remember that a small problem with vegtables caused a whole country to starve and its people mass migrate..... so a few pieces of meat with e-coli isnt going to make the whole of Leeds move south.
I hope :)

Actually not true. Beloved has been a fairly strict veggie for 20 years now, and he never takes suppliments and isn't overly fond of leafy things.... we use an awful lots of meat substitutes (ie quorn) and they're usually pretty close to meat in their mineral and vitamins :)

Had a lovely bit of veal recently... it's a shame that Brits eat so little of it, hence we export live calves to mainland Europe.
Save a calf: eat veal!
i've been a veggie for over ten years now, i dont think i could eat meat now even if i wanted to

I asked if they had Veal in Waitrose the other day. The woman behind the counter said "Certainly Not" Silly cow.
But these days I prefere things like Venison, plus its so cheap now.

I get all my meat from the Farm up the road. So not only is it good it taste great and when you cook the bacon you dont get all that white stuff the supermarkets inject into it

I couldnt imagine life without meat, I love veggies and fruit and couldnt live life without them either but quorn and meat substitues are minging seriously...Question for the vegetarians...
Why did you turn vegetarian? Was it health reasons, beliefs, diet, didnt like meat? Do you eat Fish?
With our quality beef and other meats, game & poultry there is no way I could be a vego. Give me a "blue" cooked steak that still "moooos" on your plate anyday. :)
-N
I was vegetarian for 8 years and I felt much better when I started eating meat again! I think you need meat for protein and chicken and fish are realy good for you.
When I was Vegetarain I used to eat a lot of eggs and dairy to get protein. I realised I might as well be eating meat because its just as cruel to the animals and more healthy.
So I don't think there is a point in being a vegetarain unless you are Vegan and I think its hard to be a vegan and not be pastey and white and not be able to eat out anywhere.

Pigeon is nice. Infact all game is nice. Game pie's are a real great dish. I much prefere eating game that way, as many can be a bit strong sometimes.

Do you like Fois Gra then? Thats a pretty nasty way to go. I must admit Im not keen on it, but then Im not keen on any pate.

Hubbie gave up meat because he was revolted by the idea of putting cadavers in his mouth - can't knock him for that, it IS pretty gross when you think of it LOL! He doesn't eat fish, and he's a lacto-vegetarian.
As a meat eater I don't find Quorn at all minging - in fact some dishes cooked with quorn you really couldn't tell the difference - and it's lower fat than meat so I happily eat it at home instead of meat.

To be honest the whole killing of the animals puts me off approach really does get me!
I mean lipstick, whales have to die, shoes, leather has to come from somewhere and then the cheap labour where kids work for pittens and then die...It's all the same to me, maybe a bit drastic but cows arent people. They arent pets either.
They are bred for the sole purprose of food, survival of the fittest. Chickens are kinda cute but they taste nice so well, I don't feel all that bad lol. Maybe I have no morals I dunno, I just dunno what is wrong with killing something that sits in a field mooing and eating grass..

One concern with meat substitutes it that some of them are made from GM soya....
I don't think that red meat is a requirement for a balanced diet.

I'm a very fussy eater lol u wouldnt think it from looking at me :) but I don't eat lamb (I used to hand feed one with a bottle and that got me!), or any seafood - I just cant do it.
Beef, pork and chicken I can do, but no game or anything like venison, veal etc.
I actually love quorn! Next thing to try is tofu :) If I can master that i may give up most meat altogether ;)
Personally, I find the advice on what to eat or not confusing and often contradictory so I now just ignore it all and eat as varied a range of foods as possible, but nothing to excess.

Love it. I'm not pro-animal cruelty, but some things taste too good to miss.
I get the impression that some people naturally love meat (like me) and some just aren't into it. Most veggies are people who never liked meat much anyway and I have respect for them, but don't appreciate people who try to push their lifestyle on other people.
On a complete tangent... I'm watching the last half hour of the 2006 world cup. I'm so sad it's another 4 years to wait. I think I'll go to South Africa for the next one.
Most veggies are people who never liked meat much anyway and I have respect for them, but don't appreciate people who try to push their lifestyle on other people.
I'm with you there, and none of my veggie friends push their food choices on me. Unlike a LOT of meat eaters who seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to rubbish veggies for their lifestyle choices. Personally I have enormous respect for vegetarians and wish people would do their research about vegetarianism before spouting their mouths off with bollocks.
Why did you turn vegetarian? Was it health reasons, beliefs, diet, didnt like meat? Do you eat Fish?
two reasons, i dont like the taste of meat much and i married a veggie, and when we got divorced i decided to stay a veggie

How is eatting any bird different from eatting a chicken or duck? We put so many rules on what animal we would and wouldn't eat. We are lucky we have the choice to be picky.
omg i hate pigeons they scare me but i can safely say id never ever eat one!!!
LOL, why not?
By the way a wild wood pidgeon or infact any game, doesnt taste hardly any different from any other bird. A pidgeon isnt much different than a qual at all, I bet you eat them :)

but its when humans fuck around with the dna of the food chain is when the world is going to get fucked! believe me when i did research for my screenplay, the truth was worse then any fiction I could of dreamed up! its more scary then you think! and the thing is, this is all passing quietly without protest into our lifestyles! I appluand holland for banning transfats from their foods!
