I think it would be better to trust your money every time to the latter..... you at least get a more honest approach and know where you stand...

paid in a cheque last week for £650 into business account... doing a bank reconciliation today... its showing as £6.50...after an hour calling and hearing 3 different versions of what to do... One of them being a 130 mile round trip to the branch it was paid into... to sort out THEIR problem..

Now we are told it could take 10 working days to sort out..

the other week we paid a £1200 transfer... the payee account details were one digit wrong (not our fault) so it goes into a holding account and we only find out when the payee says he didnt recieve the money...
the bank find the money after 3 days and guess what ...will take 10 working days to get back..

I wonder how many times this happens and how much is in these "holding accounts" gaining interest for the banks..

and do they do it deliberatly....

give me a drug dealer to do business with anyday !!

Ouch, yeah I've had the 1 wrong digit error before mate on an incoming wire transfer. They sidelined it into a holding account for 30 days, (to make some nice interest) then sent it back overseas to the sending bank in europe to try again. Shifty bastards.

Banking in this country is disgusting, unfortunately the "establishment" have no incentive to make it change :(

I have paid 600 into an account in cash to pay for a trip to Hungry, the money just vanished, the bank had no idea where it was neither did the girl I paid it too.

Like a fool I took no receipt, I mean when you pay cash into an account over the counter its should not get lost.

It took a few days to get it back they never explained what happened.

I also sent a wire to the US to payout a webmaster I porcess No Chex payments for ;-) and the wire went missing for nearly a month. The women who TOOK the form off me as she would fill it out right fucked it up good and proper. Whats more they deducted the charges and when the funds were finally paid back I lost on the exchange rate.

The up shot was it cost me just short of 100 £ to send something that never went. They will refund me if I put it all in writing, can I be ass'd not right now though will prob chase it up when I get the hump.

Not been funny mate you shoudl do it all online and that way you can double cheque the money.

You need to change your business account then, according Lloyds TSB you are only charged with them if you need a human to do something, if you do everything online the account is basically free of charges :-)

BTW they also credit chqs right away no waiting 5 days for the UK ones anymore

but if you pay in Chq and use your paying in book then its not possible for them to read the account details wrong as the machine reads the paying in slip.
