This is to my friend from italy who I met last year in Leeds, or indeed anyone who has been to Leeds.
Years ago there was a fish and chip resturant in the middle of Leeds. I think its where that silly overpriced cloths shop is now.
You would go upstaires. It was realy very working class but extreamly wonderfull. It was the top floor of this building. On the walls would be huge black and white photographs of Leeds from years ago.
If I remember you would que up and order. You would then walk around and get your bread and butter from liitle hatches. Then your afters, which was uualy a small tub of jelly. Also from a hatch (self service). After that you wuld get your cup of tea. Then you would go to a small window to get your fin and chips.
Yes it was tacky and working class, but it to me (I was about 6) heaven.
I still feel sad that it closed, but I can never remeber the name.
Just wondered if anyone knew the name of this place.
My nan used to take me on a saturday. But the best day ever was after watching star wars film, then getting a star wars toy (I still have them. gutted i took them out of the boxes), then to the resturant.
I tell you for all the fancy dvd players, computers, wide screen tv's and so on. I still think life was better in the 70's. I remember thinking people were posh if they had two tv's.
