Just wondered what it is legal to do in the UK as a way to promote porn.

I see the sex shops advertise in the free papers.

But I never see porn sites advertised or promoted, only in sex mags and on the net.

Think off the wall sometimes - I have a mate who advertises his adult mobile stuff in things like a Hells Angels own magazine - not available to the public but relatively cheap to do and you have an audience of horny bikers!

What I was thinking off was a big poster on a billboard. OK, I do not have that much cash. But what I mean is that legal in a public place.

Or what about handing out flyers in the street.

I wouldn't think that the advertising standards agency would let you advertise a porn site on a bill board even if it was legal they would be inundated with complaints.

Or what about handing out flyers in the street. is that a serious question? :rolleyes: I don't know if it's legal or not but I'd like to know how you could think that was viable? If say the average cost of handing out 5 leaflets was 1p, 4 of those would go directly into a bin you would be paying 1p for the possibility of 1 person viewing the site.

there is some point in having biz card sized flyers which you forget on public toilets, in the pub, ....

URL and a suggestive pic are enough.

I have (not very well) put up my small poker site webname on the back on my car.

Years ago people would see a URL anywhere and type it in when they got home. I don't really think that works anymore, but maybe...

I was in Leeds the other day, and they were handing out free headbands with 118118 on them (like you see in the adverts).

I thought what a cool idea.

I thought if you gave out condoms with your web address on it, that may work.

Back when i was in the UK, I we had our URL www.LaylaJade.com Plastered in rainbow lettering across the back of our rover 800i
Still there i suppose as we left the car in the uk to move to America, where I am now !

Don't promote porn, promote something target related, something tangible. Pass on the url when you despatch the goods.

This allows you to advertise in the back pages of fetish or even non-fetish magazines like Amateur photographer, Exchange & Mart, Yorkshire Trader etc. Of course you only get hits from people you have sold goods to, but I’ve found that as many as 1 in 3 will sign up.
