Hey guys and girlies

I am just rendering like a beast over here for our new site lol, but I wanted to know which file formats do you have / think we should have for movie downloads. Do you think I need to bother with mpeg, if I have WMV in the members area. What about quicktime?

The reason I ask is that my members area is now pretty much all wmv but tryatranny has mpg's and I wondered if it was simply a waste of server space?

We are 100% WMV now and have zero problems customer problems with that.

Ooh good good, i'm having some real troubles rendering mpg for some reason. Every application I try throws up error messages. I'm doing something wrong most probably, but if I don't have to worry about mpg, it would also be a huge weight off my mind :)

im sure any format is fine as long as you provide a link to a codec and some instructions.

i have major issues with wmv on one of my computers, everything plays in rainbow colours. I gave up trying to fix it and installed winamp and media player classic instead.

I think wmv is best.

The problem with mpg is that not only the files are bigger, they are easer to edit, and thus could end up on other sites.

However, it may be worth editing in a few formats, so if you cange your mind, its just a case of uploading later.

But as has been said, add a link to windows update site (for windows media player) and links to other media players.

Often the very very few times people have playing my films is that they are using very old softwear. A quick update and all things should work.

You could also turn your films into flash files. These can be watched on-line, but much harder to save. But quality is very good.
