HI, im new to all this and wish to begin running a hardcore site with downloadable videos etc but i find hosting an adult site like this is illegal in the UK. I assume you guys all have them hosted abroad and was wondering if you could give me any links to any good ones. Any links to legal issues concerning hardcore sites ran from britain would be great too.

I have been using them for a few months now and all seems well. I use them for TGP and MGP submits and I've not had any problems :)
A lot of people seem to think they are crap and that their offer is bullshit, well I don't know about that but I do know free hosts who give you unlimited bandwidth and a shit load of space.
Kinghost do this and I know quite a few people who use them for galleries, if kinghost can do it for free (well with a footer) why can't Dreamhost do it for a fee?

I read somewhere about CPU usage, can you explain that without going into techy mode.
Most people seem to think that $7.95 per month for what you offer is too cheap and that you can't actually do it for that price. This is when the CPU usage issue came up.

CPU usage = how hard the server works which is an issue with virtual accounts.

Id really like a host who have 24/7 phone support, is this a false hope for an adult host? Sorry for all the questions, I am Googling like mad as well but there is just so many I dont know where to start, and I dont want to just naively pick one.
Also im not finding any detailed lists of UK porn laws so if anyone can help me out, as much info as I can get basically. My site will contain hardcore galleries, downloadable hardcore videos and possibly at some point a shop to sell my videos from if I decide to compile them to DVD.

Yeah but but I read something about this concerning Dreamhost accounts, to be honest I didn't bother reading it :geezer:
See what it seems like is, you can have 1000GB of transfer per month but if you actually use it then they will move your account.
I had a similar thing with an ISP many years ago. I asked if they allowed adult sites and they said "yes". After a few months I got a letter telling me I had to upgrade my account (silly money) or they would close it. When I phoned they said it was because of the amount of bandwidth I was using, this was because it was an adult site. So I said "so you know adult sites will pull a lot of traffic and that you will close an account if they do, so basically you do not allow adult"
So is this the same sort of thing, they offer 1000GB but whatever you do don't use it, can you use 1000GB without going over their CPU usage limit?
What could send you over their CPU usage limit, MYsql?, running too many scripts?, having too many cron jobs running?
I have heard people say they use Dreamhost for TGP submitting and get listed on the Hun a lot with no problems.
Like I said I have an account and have not had any problems, but as we all know if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

I don't think it's illegal to host hardcore here, but like JT said it is too expensive, like everything else here.
Do you want your own dedicated server or are you just wanting a virtual account for now?
If you want your own box do you managed or umanaged, obviously this will make a difference in the price or is price not an issue?
Do you have an idea of how much space you need and how much bandwidth per month?

Legality doesnt come into it. You can get plenty of UK hosts who will host your sites, they are just to expensive.
Selling DVD's and putting them in the post in the UK is illegal, so stick to the web :)

Webair works for me. I have a shitty $20 per month virtual account that I use for some of my TGP's (100kb photos only).
2 free listings on the Hun last week have made 13 sales so far, and the server coped fine with the bandwidth spikes.
Since I only need 1 30-day sale per month to cover its costs, I can't fault it.

On my WHM there's an option to assign each new account to a different IP address. I just don't because I'm a lazy tart :)

I use www.hostgator.com and I have never had any problems with them, which is fantastic after all the damned hassle I had to get a damned host!
Payment options are great and the packages are pretty good too. THey have live support, the site had some down time, as soon as I noticed, got on live support and was fixed within seconds!
I host all my sites with them.
1. About Dreamhost (http://Www.DreamH0ST.Com): They are not bad as an entry-level host. Cheap (promo code COUP40 will even get you a $40 discount). Downside: support takes about a day (or more) to answer, cpu usage limit,... I wouldn't use them for anything critical (like a paysite for example).
2. If you are looking for a reliable host in Europe: AdultEUHost (http://www.adulteuhost.com/?aid=eu). They are located in the Netherlands. Great company, stable servers, great support.

A reseller on an already shitty virtual *might* be ok if they were giving free blowjobs but there are no other reasons.
