Radio 4 this morning... there are proposals to tax SUVs at £2K annually.

Better flog the thing before the second-hand value crashes.

I wish they would tax *all* cars at £5K annually then without all of the gypos, cackers and old heaps of scrap on the road the world would be a far better place.

No matter what cars we have we will still always have a 4x4 as well even if the tax went up to £10K a year.

The problem is, is that many would not pay it, thus drive with no insrance.

They say lots and lots of kids of 18 and older drive with no insusance as its so expensive. In fact if some kid of 18 tries to race you, let him go, as if he hits you, he may have no insurance.

In fact next time you get an insurance quote, ask what hapens if you get hit by somone with no insurance. It may work out better to pay a bit extra by finding (if they exsist) an insuranse firm that covers you if this happens.

Of course things are much better now that police do not need to stop you, as they can check to see if a car is taxed and insured.

The problem these days is that its very cheap and easy to get a car.

You can pick up second hand cars in mint condition so cheap, I never understand why people bother to buy new.

We have overhead cameras here that automatically check for tax and insurance and that keeps the shite off of the road. This technology is being rolled out everywhere now and there is more even more clever stuff going on trial shortly.

If you get hit by someone with no insurance you are covered anyway even if you are TPO as their is a central scheme which protects drivers against other uninsured drivers - I think you pay the first £400 as an excess but thats it. At the end of the day we all pay for it in our premiums though but it saved me a hell of a lot of money a few years back when a dozy foreign cow with no licence decided to side swipe me at a roundabout................
