I have seen quite a few threads talking about meeting for a beer, a meal, a game of golf or whatever. People say they will or would if it was here or there.

Now as I mentioned I don't see the point in all these stupid shows and what not, but to meet up and have a beer and put faces to nicks (not Knickers) would be good.

I can't see what would stop anyone here from attending unless they just don't want to.

Surely we all earn enough to be able to travel somewhere and stay the weekend and as far as I know we are all own own bosses, so getting time off shouldn't be a problem.

I'm up for the golf one myself, we could make a weekend of it, doesn't all have to be golf. All course have a 19th hole :cheers2:

Anyway I think we should do this sometime in the next few months maybe even later this month, ok I have no friends and that's why I'm starting this thread :geezer:

Yeah Geezer, what exactly is the point of these shows? I've often wondered that myself. I know it's all about networking but does it really achieve anything that can't be done online? Is it all just an expensive excuse for a bit of showing off and getting drunk somewhere out of town? I suppose it's good to meet people face to face.
And then you get the photos posted on forums so us lowly affiliates who can't afford to go can look at pictures of people they don't know getting pissed.
Hopefully sometime in the future I'll be making more money from this and then I'd be up for a meeting in the UK or Amsterdam :) but I don't know about this going to Vegas shit.

The best thing I ever did was to go to Internext in Jan and June 2001. I met a lot of peeps in the biz who I'd only spoken to on the phone, by email or posted on forums with. Today I'm still in contact with most of them if they're still in the biz, whether about work or socially :)

Also getting to meet the people who you work with makes future contact a lot better as you've met face to face. One of my best examples is meeting Jeff Neiss from CCBill in Jan 2001. From screaming at him an the then finance director, Joel, in the middle of the CCBill stand, I've built up a long standing relationship with the company :) I have this same relationship with quite a few others.

From our old nights out on London, I think I can say that many of us from way back then are still in touch and do stuff together..

So going to shows or what ever to meet our peers is the best thing anyone can and should do at least once.

Geezer, I will go where ever it is, I value importance of meeting with people, location is not an issue for me but the poofs i London are frightened to step outside of the M25 incase they turn to stone.

If no one will do it then hit me up be happy to go for a beer with you, help break up your Giro and spend your licence fee on some grub ;-)

their computer screens, but i think its a laugh to meet people face 2 face
and talk without hitting "submit reply"

i had the pleasure of meeting UK webmasters Bluey & Wankmaster recently
i forced them to partake in a strange dutch ritual involving a peace pipe.

i'm just starting the WM thing tbh, just been shooting for DVD and VOD.
off to Dallas later this month but then i'm free after that pretty much.

My wife asked me why i was holding hands with Wankmaster in the fairground shot ? seriously look carefully my hand is firmly in my pocket, then again maybe that's why they call it "White widow" fucking heavy shit bent off my face for two days

Me and Wankmaster like a few beers and a good steak or Indian, Chinese, what ever grabs ya. Not to big on golf ! fucks up a good walk but still willing to keep the bar stools warm until you guys get back. If its on count us in and let us know about a few local hotels
