View Full Version : Fighting Fires

I was sitting here and could smell smoke and noticed ash falling in my garden. I looked out the back and there was nothing, then when I looked out the front I saw that behind the house opsosite there was a fire.
I came back in to ring 999, and then back to look. I saw their fence had caught and it looked like the trees would go up as well.

I ran into their garden found a hose pipe and ran it up to the back of the garden. I fought the fire single handly with smoke billowing all around me and the noise of the cracking flames ringing in my ears.

I stood my ground as the flames rose higher and the smoke thickened. I knew I had to tame this beast before the whole of the fence was engulfed.
I managed to get the fire under control and then was joined by a neighbour who was doing the best he could with his small hose.

We were just damping down when the Fire Brigade arrived to run through with their big black hose and take all the glory.

So I am awarding myself a trophy for bravery in the face of overwhelming danger :gold:

No need to do any of the above, he came over and thenked me.

To be honest he didn't know until the other bloke went and told him.
I didn't want to go tell him cos it would have seemed like I was giving it Charlie Big Potatoes.

Us hero's are very modest :)

Bloody hell - I think I'll sue the lot of you! I'm reading this whilst drinking my morning coffee and I laughed so hard I nearly choked to death.
