View Full Version : Smoking ban ‘inevitable’ across UK
Speaking before a three-month consultation begins tomorrow, Donaldson said a ban was the most pressing issue in public health: “If we have to do one big thing, that has to be to eradicate tobacco like we eradicated polio.”

and of course it has nothing to do with it being another drug they don't have full control over. funny nobody in the western societies seems to have these issues with alcohol. could it be because beer and stuff is home cooked while tobacco isn't? ;)

This has been comming for a long time, I feel sorry for those who like a smoke with there pint. Those days are numbered
I smoked for about 24 years and obviously smoked like a trooper when having a beer.
I have now given up for about 7-8 years and I can't stand the smell of smoke AT ALL, but I still think you should be allowed to smoke in a pub.
If eveyone stuck together what could they do, ban everyone, they would lose too much money.
I have said oy for a while and honestly believe that smoking will be illegal one day.

as a pub owner i'd make sure people find room and a bit of cover just outside, it's all about smoking inside, innit.
the problem with that will be the drunks causing a riot on the street with their singing and hollering.

they banned smoking in bars and cafes here in italy a few months ago, everyone here smokes, but to cross-reference tobacco with polio is a bit fcuked up imho, when politicians and such ilk (CMO) start talking bollocks they rhyme to paper over the cracks so tobacco...polio... yeah lol

im looking forward to a ban on smoking - but - wonder what the government will do to fill the massive gap that will be created when all the taxation money on tobacco stops

it won't. the UK must have the worst prices on ciggies, twice as much as many other places, yet i don't seem to see less smokers compared to other places.
