I was speaking to PayAsYouGo on the phone yesterday and we realisted that the next time we will meet will be in Florida... thats crazy, we meet more UK webmaster in America then in our home land... How many people would attend a show if we arranged on in the UK??

This would be a proper show, middle of country (birminghams a good bet) get exibitors, maybe worth with the AEO guys, anyone up for it?

Without coming across as an alchy, I think just a party is a good idea.
Basically I don't see the point of the shows. I have nothing to sell and I don't want anyone trying to sell me anything.

I like the idea of meeting other webmasters and having a beer or 12 but the shows just seem pointless to me. Unless you have an affiliate programme or some software or other to sell.

The boats party was good because it was relaxed and there was no hard sell going on, just like minded people having a beer, a chat and some even had a laugh.

The show I would probally come...but like geezer said unless you are buying or selling something mostly a waste of time. Like internext all the crap they give away free and try to sell you there is amazing I would need to take a spare suitcase if you brought it all home with you..

as far as the style of the event goes. how about getting a place with a decent function room, where those who wish to inform the fellow event attendant about their stuff can have a table set up with some info spread out and those wanting to know details can annoy them with questions? those tables could be along the walls and therefor out of the way of the combat drinkers.

as I will have to fly over from rome, a meeting place in nottingham, stansted or bristol would help! an indian would be great, good curries are hard to come by over here and having spent 3 years living right on rusholme's curry mile before moving to italy, I am in dire need of some hardcore currification!

I make a mean curry but as for giving a recipe, I just add a bit of this and a bot of that and it all comes together.

I was going to give someone my bombay aloo recipe but I don't really have one :)

Anyway if you like cooking then go to Spice Of Life (http://www.thespiceoflife.co.uk/) they do "Easy Peasy Curries" basically you choose a curry you like and they will send you all the spices, chillies etc needed to make them. They also supply you with the recipe for the dish you have chosen.
All you need to do is add the meat and maybe a yoghurt or 2.

It is so easy, even if you have never cooked a curry before you can do a really nice Indian, and they ship to Italy :thumbsup:

I would vote for leeds with it being in the middle of the UK and very simple to get to by trian, car or plane -

Andy I'm with you on this - crazy that you wil meet danny half way round the world.

Devon could also happen the Fulford's need money and plenty of room, by all accounts their house has been used for adult related business in the past :-)

From the things I have attended its worked out cheaper to go to Prague & Amsterdam then to go to London for an event.

BTW I went on one of those mini cruises some time ago and was so pleased to reach dry land, it was about 2 days before I stop feeling the rocking of the boat

Brighton is a nice place but too far too travel for a night out it's a 600 mile round trip for me either a half day's driving or load of fucking about on trains.

An idea would be too start a poll on the most popular suggestions see which one gets the most votes.

sort out 3 parties over the next year or so 3-5 months apart
1st in north england or maybe in scotland
2nd in wales or the midlands
3rd in the south somewhere

and if we all make a effort then all 3 can be a success

Seems that way doesnt it ;)

At the mo it seems likely that we'll sort out some meetups around the UK on a monthly or bi-monthly basis .. so maybe london one month, then somewhere up north next time... first meetup should be no less than a couple of weeks away - details will follow as soon as we finalise the venue.

However if any sponsor(s) wishes to step forward and assist in the orginisation of a monumental UK webmaster gathering, feel free to announce your interest :)
