the aliens are coming.
help me
Im having an on going issue with a box at webair at the moment. It sometimes needs rebooting, when it gets rebooted sometimes mysql doesnt start. both me and webair techs are trying to see whats causing it, I guess it will happen a couple of times more before it gets sorted :comp:
what makes it worse, was last night. It was about 10.30, my girlfriend is away for the night. Im in a bar about 20 minutes of chat away from pulling some bird.....I mean she was as up for it as it gets.......Then Paul from smiths media (no chex paul) phones me up to say the site is getting an error. So I had to leave the fucking bar to get webair to reboot the cunting server :comp:
that'll teach you to
a) have a mobile with proper web access
b) have the phone numbers of your hoster on your mobile
;)

you guys want to complain? I just got back from the Glastonbury mud bath after five days with no sleep, lots of drink and recreational stuff to find that my HD has crashed and they cannot recover the data - three years of 1000+ still productive galleries - gone, 7 year old TGP - gone, trades - dead, partner accounts - probably blacklisted.
My head is cabbaged now I gotta deal with this shit and start from scratch.
Fuck fuck fuck maybe a hippy cursed me?

Sarah is an unkown quite big player. I guess there would be days and days of uploading, probably weeks and scripts etc that need installing, maybe weeks worth, plus Im not sure haw much of her stuff is created automatically by scripts

I see.
So not so simple.
I thought the web host firms make backups.
I hope you can sort it out soon.

Most hosts, back up on the same hard drive, I know all dont but most do. Ive never thought thats a good system
the host makes weekly back ups, the HD crashed and apparently there are "corruption issues" with the back up. My TGP is backed up on my local drive, but there is still UCJ, submission and anti hotlinking scripts which will need re installing - not being very good at techie stuff I pay people to install them but I want the hosting company to foot the bill for that although I am not getting any feedback to that effect and there seems no sense of urgency. Currently they have told me they will send the HD away for attempted data recovery but this could take up to a week.
I was getting email on my mobile phone whilst away, and had emailed the hosting company on Friday telling them I have no local back ups of my galleries and I needed them recovered, but it is only now that I am home and on icq that something is starting to get done, in them meantime the clock is ticking and no money coming in. I spend $900+ a month on bandwidth and would have thought they would be pulling out all the stops to keep me happy.
Apart from the fact my traffic trades will take ages to build up again after a week of down time, I have a couple of thousand of movie galleries which I do not keep on my hard drive as my host "makes weekly backups"...... These galleries were still productive and getting sign ups and search engine traffic now I will get nothing but rebills. Also there is the issue of my partner submit accounts which I have all over the place, if my galleries have now gone 404 I am probably gonna lose them.
I don't want to name and shame the company as hopefully they may sort things out satisfactorily for me.

What are your sites that you run?
Are they based in the USA?
I only run one TGP which has been going about 7 years, mainly I do a lot of galleries. I live in the UK, the hosting company is in the USA.

yes I do host the galleries, also I have galleries online for the last three years which also get traffic. The bandwidth is reasonable in view of the sign ups I get, but then if the whole lot goes and gets lost, maybe it is not so reasonable....... but then at least my bandwidth will be less :takethat:
