Ten years ago today :(
And still very little has changed. :(
And still very little has changed. :(
taking away the guns of thousands of innocent people because the police fucked up and allowed a violent pedo with a naccording record his arms back although they had all the needed legal backup to not only avoid this but to keep him under control is very little?

Oh its the Police's fault now......
I dont think he had any record of being a pedo and his only crime was having unlicenced guns if i remember (up to what he did of course).....he was a sick individual for sure and the fact he was one of those "innocent" people who had access to guns means it could happen again...
I find myself half agreeing with you and half not as guns dont kill people (Rappers Do) so the gun is not to blame but people are cunts and will use whatever they need to harm others
...so NO guns = no shootings....

It's more to do with piss poor licencing, piss poor check ups, piss poor security by far too many keepers still and far too many nutters legally holding licences.

To a large extent, it is the fault of the police. They failed to adhere to procedures which, if they had been followed, would have ensured that Hamilton didn't receive a firearms licence.
Gun crime is on the increase, so it would appear that banning handguns has solved nothing. What followed Dunblane was no more than a typical knee jerk reaction by a government whose overriding objective has been to safeguard its position of power.
sadly i don't think not having access to a gun would of stopped a mad man like him, and i think (with the upmost respect to all concerned) it could have been alot more gory had he used a knife.

Exactly, it's got fuck all to do with guns but the nutter who decided he wanted to kill a load of 5 year old kids.
I'm sure a Samuri sword could have done the job as well, maybe a chain saw, a baseball bat, a kitchen knife, even a hammer. Fuck me they were five year olds he could have just gone in and thrown them through the windows.

not now, always was. there were laws. had they executed them, he wouldn't have gotte nhis legal arms back. simple as that.

in theory correct, yet nonsense. an illegaly owned gun shoots just as fine as a legally owned one.

my point exactly. just using more words. had the police made use of their possibilities, executed all laws, there'd be way less issues with legally owned arms.
obviously that doesn't avoid crimes with guns in general. criminals tend to give little toss about laws.

disallowing firearms simply opened up a new market. trafficking drugs is now tied in with trafficking firearms. as smugglers are on their way anyway, why not take some with them.
in fact there was a report to that effect a year or two after Dunblane. which is one of the reasons the plans for disallowing firearms were dropped again in several EU countries, although they liked the idea and already started adopting the UK arguments used after Dunblane. the thought of attracing the eastern euopean arms dealers wasn't that comfy, one would think.
a gun shop in Budejovice, CZ, offered me to simply mail me a gun in the mid 1990s. they did that on a regular basis, if the customs didn't pay too close an attention to your parcel, it would go through. i know quite some people who took the risk, alone for the then very interesting prices they had. and most succeeded.
most likely wouldn't work today anymore though.

Not too long after I moved here there was the machette attack in a school. You don't need a gun to ruin lives.
