This jolly romp through some of the best bits of one of the funniest and most delightfully subversive comedy shows ever throws up some curious little nuggets. Globetrotter Sir Alan Whicker, who's a big fan, has The Muppet Show's theme as the ringtone on his mobile. And the iconic Kermit, who first appeared on black-and-white television more than 50 years ago, was originally made from ping-pong balls and an old coat. There are many more such gems, as told by "Muppeteers" Frank Oz (he was fuzzy Fozzie bear) and a handful of The Muppet Show's special guests, including Liza Minnelli, Bruce Forsyth and Alice Cooper.

When the series was at its height, world-conquering stars - Peter Sellers, Vincent Price, Elton John, Gene Kelly - queued up to be gently humiliated by the wisecracking puppets. Best Ever Muppet Moments takes us through the show's history from its birth on British television (US stations didn't want it, and our own Lew Grade had to step in with the money) to the more recent, successful Muppet movies. There are touching tributes, too, to Jim Henson, Muppet creator and driving force, who died in 1990 aged just 53.
