View Full Version : Traffic Trading - What's the point of it?
Been looking at about adding a traffic trading script to a TGP site ... which got me thinking what's the point?
Surely all you end up doing is pissing off the surfer by sending them to other sites they don't want to go to in the first place... I know that if I'm surfing galleries at a TGP and I hit a gallery link that sends me to a trade, I immediately close the window and keep clicking the gallery link until it takes me to where I wanted to go to in the first place.
So OK, I can see how a script with a stack of trade partners can boost the overall traffic to a site, but surely that traffic isn't productive and the surfer who we rely on for business will be unlikely to bookmark yours and will possibly never return?
Maybe I'm missing something?

I think your right.
I used to look at some TGP sites, but got fed up with being sent to other sites.
In facr most seem to work if you click on every 5th pic or so on a site. So basicly the person running the TGP site, are using affiliate pics for other than promoting the affiliate site, but sending surfers to other sites.
I think most want to be thehun.com, but are simply not.
As you say it anoys serfers. I bet many naver return to the TGP site again, so it defetats the object of the site. In fact I wonder why they put all that effort into it, simply to send sufers to other sites.
you guys make the mistake and compare the online patterns of a webmaster with the patterns of surfers looking for porn. surfing as such means clicking on links and checking out whatever page comes up next. once you actively search for something, it is not 'surfing' anymore.
truth is that trading appears to become more and more pointless, as was too many cheaters are out there. again i blame so-called webmaster boards, that brainwash every wanker with online access to think they will become the next big player. their desperation to get anywhere paired with their cultural background often enough leads to cheating. excuses like 'we have nothing here, everyone steals' are common.
build yourself a network of fake TGPs and trade with your own sites only, keep the surfer in your field. a click happy surfer sent to anyone else is most likely lost in mostly just gets you crap back anyway. and in wors tcase you send teh crap on to others who then blacklist you for sending fake traffic. not worth it anymore, IMO.
i'd pick a network of sites with a few k uniques a day each over one site with all the traffic anytime. use the surfer, filter them with various offers.

This works - and if all your sites are on unique ip's and you have a "small" group of hardlinks to similar sites with good pr's, then you'll gain with some valuable se traffic.
There is so much proxy in cj, it is hardly worth the bother. (my point of view, that is.)

cheers for pointing that -especially the unique IP part - out, i keep forgetting to mention it. :)

Surprising how many do this and it's a very slippery slope to slide down.
trading traffic with a tgp is the fastest way of gaining page views, which in turn meens you are showing yours ads to surfers. It isnt the best, but the fastest. Just like building galleries and submiting them to tgps isnt the best way of making money, but the fastest and cheapest. If I was pennyless tommorow, the two things I would do would be a) build galleries and b) set up trading sites. Long term it isnt the best, but short term, tommorow I would have money
Like HF & Cardinal says, its now become scam hell and full of crap sites feeding crap proxy traffic to other crap sites. But if you know what you are doing and trade with good sites, you can still make very good money & quickly. The answer is looking at who you are trading with, like we use to in the old days.
Of course you can also send some of the traffic to toplists which will return more trafic and probably better traffic.
did mention fake toplists to throw in the mix of fake TGPs? :)
Thanks guys for all your comments ... they have given me food for thought. I think I may start of with some small, carefully selected sites to trade with and see how it goes.
Any recommendations for % skim rates etc? I guess I also shouldn't activate the trade until I confirm that they are sending hits?
Any links to good tutorials on trading?
