View Full Version : For All You Clever Cunts
I was flicking channels last night and came across a phone in quiz type of site. I was sooo sure I knew the answer I rang and rang and rang and...you get the message. At 75p per call I was adding to my phone bill like a bastard.
My son said "ain't they got a web site?" I found it and it was fucking free to enter via the net :geezer:.
Anyway I finally got on and was sure I was going to win the 8k prize money, guess what?, I WAS FUCKING WRONG!
So here it is with what was at the bottom of the screen:
NINETY DIVIDED BY
FIVE MULTIPLED BY
TEN MINUS TWELVE

117?

But it is correct .....
ok try 117 ?

I had 4172 now I'm thinking 4184. I am adding all the numbers, Roman ones, I deffinitely think it's Roman Numurals that's why it's all in upper case :)
I'm guessing you came up with 168 (therefore 15), as a calculator would. If they gave a dfferent answer my manipulating the steps in the calculation then a quick email to OFCOM would be in order.

Its one of those silly new quiz questions.
There is no real answer, just one they make up.

I have seen a similar thing on another channel and they didn't give the answer, well they gave the answer but not how they got there.

I would not bother.
They must get tons of cash from it. Wish I thought of it.
DO NOT LOOK, is my answer. Watch somthing else.
They use all sorts of silly systems, such as roman numerals, greek letters, anything, just so you do not know. Lets face it Sherlock homes, could not get the answer.
Lets face it, if somone as clever as me cannot get the answer, you lot have no chance.

i got my first answer by taking the question literally (NO numbers)
i got 117 by again doing what the question asked... simply adding numbers
so what WAS the answer?

No one got it, it carries on tonight.
For a prize of 8k it won't be that easy, my son said 117 was given many times.
I still think it's a Roman Numural thing.
NINETY DIVIDED BY
FIVE MULTIPLED BY
TEN MINUS TWELVE
90 / 5 = 18
18 X 10 = 180
180 - 12 = 168
Now add the numbers:
18 + 180 + 168 = 366 You owe me a share of the winnings

Could also be 33 from literally adding each of the numbers 1+8+1+8+0+1+6+8!
Good thinking Jase.. It's all lateral thinking with these quizes...
Try this... Tom and Mary are found dead in a locked room surrounded my broken glass and water.
Who are Tom and Mary and how did they die ? I heard this so long ago, I hope I have remembered the correct answer
Tom and mary are fish?
Or they're in a submarine?
Matt... No questions.. I need the whole scenario :)
Those wern't questions, just vague guesses :)
Matt a "?" means question... LOL

Sorry to disillusion you but this is a well known scam amongst quiz channels. The truth is there can be quite literally hundreds of answers and they could all be correct, depending on which way you look at them. What these programmes do is wait until the last possible answer is called in, and then say that they are the winners. By this time they will have made a mint.
It was in the papers recently that some old granny had lost thousands of pounds on one quiz channel as she didn't realise that you still had to pay 60p for the call even if you didn't get through. Apparently she was making loads of calls every night (until she got her phone bill).
Should be banned I think.

Well they have an envelope with answer inside so if you get it they will show the answer written down. I'll crack on tonight and I will go for Joe A's first and then Jase. If I win on Joe A's number I will give him £1,000 if it's Jase's number I'll give him £400 and Joe A £600.
Lets hope I get through then :cheers2:

The correct answer is - 2.6384210526315blahblah
The question is:
90 divided by (5X10-12) =

Don't take your eyes off that envelope, there'll probably be a number of identical ones under a table somewhere.
Good luck Geezer.. you're gonna need it.

Yeah I did think about those magicians who have an envelope with a card inside with the number the audience member thought of :)
The correct answer is - 2.6384210526315blahblah
The question is:
90 divided by (5X10-12) =
Thats what I first came up with, but thought its far to long so looked again. The answer is 80

I missed this bit - "Add The Numbers"
996
90 divide by 5 = 18
90 x 10 = 900
90 - 12 - 78
Blah - Can fuck about with the numbers all night -
instead of roman numerals geezer, maybe they meant ASCII values? it would explain why the top part is all in uppercase (example: an 'A' is a 65 in ASCII whereas an 'a' is a 97) and the only real instruction written normally is "Add The Numbers"...ASCII is the only time that i'm aware of when an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter have two different values..
if you add up the ASCII values for every letter in the puzzle, you get 3370 and each uppercase letter gets reduced to:
78 73 78 69 84 89 NULL 68 73 86 73 68 69 68 NULL 66 89 NULL 70 73 86 69 NULL 77 85 76 84 73 80 76 69 68 NULL 66 89 NULL 84 69 78 NULL 77 73 78 85 83 NULL 84 87 69 76 86 69
so my guess is 3370. i am not sure what else 'add the numbers' could mean unless they mean for you to interpret the uppercase letters as numbers, and also not sure why they'd capitalize the top differently unless that was a little clue.....if you just do the math as you're supposed to, then "add the numbers" doesn't make sense because what numbers are they referring to? there are too many ways to interpret that, but only one way to interpret the question if you assume the uppercase letters are the numbers they are referring to.
this is fun- when will you know the right answer? :gaylords:

Fuck me I'll go for that cos it's the most involved answer I have seen. I don't know if i can sit here until 1am again watching to see if anyone gets it.
If I find out the answer I will certainly post it :gaylords:

you are either a fucking genius or a nutter either way Im impressed
Well it ain't 168, 15, 33, 117 someonesaid there many many different answers it just depends what one they want to accept. I think that is about right, because all of our answers are right because they work but they have decided on a particular answer.
I haven't heard 366 yet and I ain't going to spend another penny trying to get through. If you do it via the net they only allow you 100 goes per show. That's bollocks as well, I did about 14 and it told me I had used my limit. I deleted my cookies and then reconnected so a different IP, they still said I had used my 100 tries :geezer:
Right I am now going to... GET A FUCKING LIFE!
With so many posts I repeated what's been suggested so I deleted it.. DUH

No go Joe, 366 is wrong :geezer:
Still no one won it, it's carrying on tomorrow night from 10pm.
Lets all go and hit the fucking thing, if anyone gets through and wins we can divvy it up ;)

NINETY + FIVE + TEN + TWELVE
Add The Numbers together = 9051012

I do that alot. People soil themselves.
It's annoying. I have learnt sleigh of hand for 23 years. Do amazing (IMHO) card tricks and that 'number in an envelope' trick gets a better reaction.
I think it's cos of the popularity of Derren Brown.
haha check the winners page..
amazing how often the same names crop up..
Anyone clever enough to work out how the answer was "2487".. I'm not... LOL

By the way JT, 80 was given and it was WRONG!
I saw this but not the date, maybe it's the same answer again.. LOL:
Sunday 05/02/2006
J THAMOTHARAM, HARROW
won £ 3000
The competition was: ADD ALL THE NUMBERS
The answer to the question was: 2487

I would also like to try the answer slaxxx gave, although it's probably too clever for this lot, also Nekrom's is worth a go, fuck it anything is worth a go cos none of the logical (sort of) ones are right :ugly:
Doing the roman numerals thing I get 3768

Look, its junk.
You may as well come out with a random nomber.
The whole point of it, is that its almost impossible to work it out.
You are better off phone the richard and judith thing on ch4, as unless your 100% brain dead, you should be able to make at least 6k.
What do you mean?, no one has won yet so the answer hasn't been given.

They must have changed it
I had a message on my BT call minder today. I couldn't work it out, I thought someone had sent me a text. I carried on listening and there was music and then a bloke and a bird asking for my answer.
I got on the show, they phoned me back and got my call minder cos I was on the phone, what a bastard. I don't think I'm meant to get that £11,000 :lmao2:

OK I know this is a bit old but it's been won and the winner got £14,000.
The answer to the question was 7894 apparently, fuck knows how they got there. It's probably the amount of callers they had :takethat:
