I'm having probs with some screengrabs from HD video.

The pixel aspect ratio is wrong on the screen grab - it's coming out at 1:1 when it needs to be 1:333. Now I can change this in Photoshop but it only scales the image & doesn't seem to actually lock the change in pixel size. So when I resize the image to make a thumbnail it looks crap & when I try to save the scaled thumb as a JPG or GIF it goes back to being square pixels.

I'm a bit stumped here - Premier on the PC was able to output correctly sized images from HD, but it doesn't look like Final Cut on the Mac can...

Nope, got 2 :p

G5 with 2x dual core processors & 2.5gb of RAM. Copes with the HD editing really nicely - just tweaking things at the moment, hence this problem with the screen grabs...

I found a free prog that comes with windows xp (well it came with mine).

If you have cyberlink power dvd, you can take a screen grab. I find it best to set it to save to memory, then simply go into your art package and past it as a new pic.

I want the screen grabs from the raw HD footage, not from a compressed clip.

Think I found a solution anyway - the images come out at 1440x1080 but with 1:1 (square) pixels. If I change the image size to 1920x1080 it comes out right. 1440 x 1.333 is 1920.

I'm reducing to about 200x150 so the end result looks fine. Still wish there was a way to export correctly from Final Cut though...
