What's your opinion of safelists?

Is there any such thing as a safelist and do sponsors (mainstream and adult) like them or hate them?

Just to clarify, I mean email safelists that are worth using. I know they exist, I just don't know how safe they really are.

Rightly or wrongly, 99.99% of sponsors will take any email list traffic, whatever the source and regardless of what their t&c's might say
