Who is gonna start making money with 3G?

Me!

1. I see no need to have 3g. I have a pda phone that Ihave set up for blackberry, so some emails come to it all day long.

2. I just do not think people want 3g phonnes. I see no reason that anyone would want them.

I will own one as of tuesday-orange the fucking idiots decided to have a "glitch" in their system that stopped our order from coming out last week!

We spent 2 hours on the phone with them trying to wangle our phones for free, we wanted to upgrade our phones cause our contract was up and they said no you will pay us £500 for those four phones and to keep the same numbers (bearing in mind we have been with orange for 6 YEARS) and we said no. Spoke to a supervisor who then agreed that paying £500 for phones just to keep our number was ridiculous because if we had signed up for new contracts we would have got the phones for free anyway!

OMG rant over-I should get my W800i on tuesday and paul should his his K750i...Heres hoping..

Unless you are in the online business and use a laptop.

Again, would you get a phone or just buy a 3g card.

Also unless your on the road a lot, would you want it? After all you would probably have wifi.

Also the phones are big.

Where people may find 3g phones good are things such as games, where you could play a game on your phone with others, such as poker.

I have heard that some phones are now including wifi.

I suspect that wifi has already replaced 3g.

And thats why I do not see 3g being that big, as most people only use there mobile for that.

I think if ypou realy did need to be conected using a laptop you would think about a satalight phone, as then you are conected.

With 3g, your only 3g in some areas.

The big users of mobiles is business, and in truth Iam not sure how many firms will want or see a need to go 3g.

What may be big on 3g could be tv shows. The question is if this is expensive, will people want it.

I ove gadgests, but as yet 3g does not offer me anything.

In fact, so far all I see is negatives. More expensive calls and a larger phone. Almost seems like a step back in years.

I was looking at my old sony ericson phone, and I prefer that phone to most new ones. It feels solid, and is easy to use. No options except on and off.

Thats a novelty idea, someone using a phone to make phone calls ... seems to be the last thing that they advertise
its a camera .. its a video .. its a filofax ... its a game console ... can remove small bricks from the hoofs of apssing horses (blah blah blah).. oh, and you can call people if you really need to.

We swapped to 3g as soon as it was launched and before the 3g cards were released but with the 3g card conflicts with wireless set-ups on laptops I would never use one anyway. Wireless is great now and you can get a connection almost everywhere. With a phone and bluetooth you get a connection even when you are out of a wireless hotspot. Use ours regularly in Provonce, the mountains of Spain and Switzerland and other very remote areas.

Yes we do spend a lot of time away all over Europe and as we run big sites there is no way that we would ever want to go back to being trapped in the office. 3g is an excellent business tool.

I still have the Sony V800 from right back at the 3g launch and its matched with my Sony laptop and I use it together with the Vodaphone Business ISP. Absolutely excellent and really couldnt be more happy with it. When we are away and out of range of wireless it downloads 100s of emails in seconds, FTPing, last minute updates, etc. Just to show how much use we get out of it I ran up a £1000 bill in a week with it when we were away in France for a week last summer. :)

This is then point, only a very few people are going to want 3g for the internet, as many will have access to wi fi.

So the question is why would people opt for 3g?

The other question from the first post, is how can you make cash from people owning 3g.

As I have said, mabe from on line games and proabably web cam, but not sure what else.

I can see sites set up with info on 3g, as an add on to an original site. An example being the aa with its online map. Or radio times.

Why wont people have a G3 phone when they come to their yearly upgrade? Didnt cost me a penny to get a G3 so why would I want a lesser phone?

It may be the case that they offer 3g phones and contracts for the same as 2g.

But is it a lesser phone? I like my phones to be small so I can slip it in my pocket. I do not want a BIG phone.

I have not had look for a while at the costs so mabe the phone calls are no more expensive than 2g.

Mine isnt big and certainly fits easily in your pocket, but its all imaterial anyway. They wont carry on making the G2, as with all things technological, things only move forward

Me too, although I'm thinking of getting a phone next time that includes a half-decent MP3 player. Anyone care to recommend one?

3g phones are the same size as 2g phone now. Our contract never changed between 3g and 2g either. It was just a simple phone upgrade and our contract stayed the same.
